Nowadays, the three-pointer is a huge part of the NBA and basketball in general. Teams today are taking about 35-40% of their total field goal attempts from beyond the arc, which is completely different from the NBA 20-30 years ago. So...why did the NBA decide to shorten the 3-point line back then? Was it because they wanted to encourage teams to shoot more threes?
