The Hack and Slash genre in videogames is one of my favorite genres since I can remember and luckily the PlayStation 3 has a ton of Hack and Slash games with a good quality content, this is the case of Alice Madness Returns, a sequel of ¨American McGee's Alice¨ released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC by McGee, a fun game that I think everyone should play at least once, without more to say, let´s begin the review.</div>

The story on Alice Madness Returns is a sequel of the first game, so after Alice leaves the psychiatric hospital, she´s supposed to be fine but she still feels insecure about her family´s death, suffering constant hallucinations of the characters from Wonderland. Alice is often visited by a psychiatric that tells her to forget everything in ordeer to move fordward in her life. Still, Alice wants to investigate more into her past and decides to return to Wonderland.</div>

As I Said, In Alice Madness Returns is a hack and slash videogame with little touches of the platform genre, we´ll visit a darker and gotic version of Wonderland than we are used to see in book or films, this is thanks to the marveleous artystic style used in the game, feeling as a darker version of the artystic style of Tim Burton in the cinema. Keep in mind, that this game it´s dark not only in the artystic style, we´ll have blood and references to sexual themes, violence, etcetera.

Our main weapon in this game will be a bloody knife, which we will obviously use to kill the hordes of enemies that approach us with combos that are not difficult to do, since these combos will always have a pattern, so it is not the case where we´ll have like 100 combos and we will have to memorize them all.

As usual in those games, we can find other melee weapons to help us through Wonderland, which can be a big horse shaped hammer, being heavier than the bloody knife and doing even more damage, but it´s kinda slow to make one hit. As you can see, there is some kind of strategy in the melee weapons and how we use them, we can switch them too for increasing our combo.

There is a fire weapon too in the game which is used to hit enemies or objects that are far from our reach, being pretty useful. This weapon recharges by itself for some seconds so we won´t have to worry something about the ammo.

Keep in mind that I´m not talking about all the weapons you can find in the game, since there are more you can find in your way through Wonderland. We can upgrade our weapons too as usual in those games, giving them more strange and even new looking. In order to upgrade our weapons we need to find teeth through the game, these teeth can be found through the scenary or by killing enemies, if you collect a white teeh, it´s worth one, if you collect a golden teeth, it´s worth five.

Whenever we finish exploring a new zone, we´ll be rewarded with a new suit for our little Alice, these suits won´t do anything to our stats, only for aesthetic reasons, this gives the game  some kind of replayability.

At the platform level the game is not bad at all but it does not represent a very big challenge, neither very easy nor very difficult, although the important thing is that the platform sections are very fun and satisfactory to perform, so there really are no problems or complaints , some jumps will ask us to be very precise.

Finally, Alice Madness Returns is not a videogames that tries to be innovative in its mechanics, but we need to understand this is not something bad. Indeed, sometimes we say a game is bad only because it follows a formula from other games and this is wrong, not every videogame has to be innovative. As you can see, Alice Madness Returns is a fun hack and slash videogame with platformer touches, it´s on the Play Station 3, Xbox 360 and PC, so please, give a try to this already forgotten videogame.
