I often eat salad, but only in restaurants and hotels. Even often to eat a salad, this time, for the first time I made salad with organic and super fresh veggies. I'm glad the first experience had great results.

## <center>Salad Is Not My Comfort Food</center>

There is demand, of course, there is a supply of goods. Most likely in the area, I live difficult to find stock of fresh vegetables for salads is because salad is not comforting food here.

It's even hard to find a salad menu at a local restaurant. Because we are not used to eating raw vegetables.

There is one version of Indonesian food which is similar to Salad. It's called **”Gado-Gado”**. The only difference is that **”Gado-Gado”** uses vegetables that are boiled first, then enjoyed with peanut sauce.

So, for a salad with raw vegetables, it was very difficult for our tongues to accept, except, with a super spicy sauce that could disguise the strong taste of the vegetables.

Even though it's not my comfort food, but I can't forget the freshness of the vegetables in the salad that I enjoy at the hotel. So I thought of making a homemade salad according to Indonesian taste buds.

The most important thing is that I have to prepare the sauce that my tongue will accept. That means the sauce has to be strong enough to cover the leafy flavor.

## <center>Peanut Butter Sauce with Chili Powder</center>

The color of my salad looks a little yellowish-brown, because I use peanut butter, with olive oil, to which I add lemon juice, garlic powder, and chili powder.

I prefer peanut butter over yogurt because peanut is a pleasant taste for my Indonesian palate.

To strengthen the taste, I added chili powder as well as garlic powder. Let's see the ingredients and how to make the peanut sauce for salad.

- 4 tablespoons of peanut butter
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder


**Note:** If the amount of sauce becomes less when serving salad, add more peanut butter or olive oil as needed.

Well, here I use olive oil which is specifically for salad dressing. Next time I think to try a type of oil, for example, coconut oil. That sounds interesting.

Mix all the dressing ingredients together, then mix well, and it's ready to be served as a salad dressing.

I tasted this sauce and was quite surprised by the results it turned out to be soooo good!

I am very happy because my fear has disappeared. At first I was afraid of failing to make a good salad dressing. Now I know the important secret of a delicious salad dressing that is suitable for the Indonesian tongue.

Garlic powder and chili powder are super powers for this time of sauce.

## <center>Hydroponic Vegetables</center>

Another fear of mine for homemade salads is the vegetables used. I don't want to use non-organic vegetables. It's terrible eating raw vegetables grown using a lot of non-organic fertilizers.

So I chose hydroponic vegetables and I bought them from another city, about 25 kilometers from my house. I bought red lettuce, butterhead lettuce, red cabbage, and Kyuri Cucumber.

As for the cucumber, this is what I just ate. It tastes sweeter, with a crunchier texture than local cucumbers.

## <center>Serving Salad</center>

We just need to prepare the vegetables in a large container. If the leaves are too large, tear them apart using only your hands.

The use of a large container is very beneficial for later mixing the dressing and vegetables itself.


Look at the color of these vegetables. Oh how appetizing with the freshness!

The portion of the salad that I make can be enough for up to 3 people. The color looks like **Gado-gado** because of the use of peanut sauce. :)
