So wise.  To make it personal, I grew up hating my father. This was not a normal father, or a normal hatred.  He was someone who did great harm to everyone in my family. There was great suffering because of him.  And his response to it was to blame others.  I can't count the number of times he promised to kill someone who had 'wronged' him.

The hatred for my father stayed with me for years. Then I realized what you say in the phrase I quoted. That hatred was a burden. In time I was able to imagine what it must have been like to be an old man, for my father, to have the regrets he must have had. 

He was filled with hate.  Look what it did to him.  It twisted him.

This is a great blog.  Let it go. Don't just let it go, try to get beyond it. To tell the truth, every now and then those hard feelings for my father resurface, when I think of how people I love suffered.  But those feelings don't stay with me for long. They are like echoes. 

Well, I'm sure this is more of a response than you expected from anyone.  However, your words ring so true, and my experience validates them.

Honestly, just a few days ago I started asking people around me if karma was real because I don't see people who have hurt me in the past experiencing it haha. 

This was a perfect reminder to truly let go of the past. Thank you so much for this timing piece, it hit the deepest part of my heart. It's time to breathe..

Wow! This post hit me, Thank you @anggreklestari . To be honest I have been deeply offended by someone today. And I am not used to be mad with someone. But sometimes we can't control our emotions to defend ourselves. Instead of just  breath and just let them! I lose control today totally. And your post make me smile and bring me back my positive side. Now no more mad feelings, I forgive and I let them. And I also let myself to forget what happen and when I see that person again. I still can give a happy smile like nothing happen.😍 Hive a happy letting go!

Forgiveness is not for the other person, just like you said, it's for you. Bitterness will hold you back.

Most of the time, some people don't even realize that they hurt you. It wasn't their intention and they may have no clue that it hurt. So, they continue on as if nothing was wrong, but if you don't forgive, you hold it in and eventually you may find a physical issue due to that anger and bitterness.

Your message today is powerful. All of us have probably been affected by someone or some circumstance that has hurt us in some way. I know for a fact that forgiving and letting go are two of the most difficult situations to overcome. I've experience it first-hand. You feel heavy. You're on the verge of crying daily or whenever you think of the person(s) or the situation.

It took me years to lift the weight from my breast. As you say, whenever I think of the person(s) or situation now, I don't have any feelings toward either. What a relief. I've given it over to God to exact whatever punishment is fit.

Life is too short to carry vengeance of any other hateful acts in your heart. I want to live my best life going forward into my senior citizen years in peace and as much happiness that I can bring into my life.

I think everything you have written is very accurate. The truth is that learning to forgive and let go of things that have hurt us is a giant step towards emotional maturity. Sometimes, here in Venezuela, with all the difficulties we go through, it is easy to fall into the trap of carrying resentments and grudges. But as you rightly say, that only hurts ourselves more. 
That metaphor of the hand holding an object all day is excellent for describing how exhausting it is to carry those emotional burdens. At the end of the day, we must learn to let go and forgive, not only others, but also ourselves.

As I read the title I remember my ex boyfriend, the Power of Letting Go.😁 I let him go.😂 Seriously, it's better to forgive because it gives your heart be free from hatred and of course you can live happily.

And that's why you can have such a beautiful life. 😄
I also think that because you have no burdens and you are very focused on your steps and your progress, you choose the right outfit that matches the pool... hahaha... I'm kidding... but at the same time no, it's like knowing how to choose the right people. 
You know, I've thought about how many times I've heard someone say: she or he is going to pay dearly! And just that person who is worried about how someone is going to pay for something, lives attached to something that doesn't belong to them. They live waiting for revenge or thinking about how to retaliate. And so he loses valuable moments and even his own learning and growth. They are people who wither away.

What a great message to me this post. Letting go is not easy process most especially that I am still willing to hold it on. Holding it on to prove how true I am to support and guide but sometimes, numbness of my veins occurred that made me weak sometimes.
