For the next few days Richmar kept trying to contact me, but I wouldn't speak to him. I had blocked him out everywhere and if I saw him on the street, I would either drive away quickly or make a big detour around him. 

After a week or two he gave up. And I was able to live my life quietly. 
But a quiet life soon bales. And I missed the intimate contact with someone.

Besides, they still didn't talk to me much at home, but I didn't really mind that. I didn't want to speak to them either. 

Rose was going to be married soon. An invitation came from her and I told my mother I wouldn't go. 'Why not? Everyone there is going to ask about you!'

After a whole discussion about how everyone is going to ask about me and they're going to mind and blah blah blah, I told her I was going. 

But I absolutely did not want to see Rose! Nor less her wedding!
 
Now imagine that. I was so alone myself. I was yearning for a firm lovemaking, for a warm hug and love. And I just didn't get it. I also wanted to get married and have my own family, but I didn't get it. And now I had to sit and watch someone else get married. Damn! 

Fortunately, along with my new job, I had gained a new friend: Pamela. 

Pamela lived with her boyfriend and they had a 2-year-old son together. She was a sweet, nice lady and after having lunch together at work a few times, we would occasionally go out for drinks together. But she couldn't get out that often, because of her little son, of course. And her boyfriend. She had suggested more often that I go over for dinner sometime. 

And I wondered if I would promise her to come over the day Rose got married. Then I could tell my parents that I had to visit Pamela because of work. It was the weekend, but I might be able to make something up then. My father would certainly be dramatic about it again, since Rose was his cousin's daughter. But oh well, my dad didn't really count for me anymore since he had slapped me.
