The resident magpie who is a little overprotective

<center>We have a magpie that has changed from being a polite outside bird to an inside one.  It just happened without any real warning.  This cute little male magpie who has always waited politely outside the door for the meat is now running around inside the house looking for a kind human to feed him.  We have him wandering inside anytime from morning onwards.  His only intent is to eat, no hanging around for social chit chats.</center>

<center>It is hard to believe that this very friendly magpie turns into a ferocious one snapping the helmet of the postie on his motor bike every morning.  From our observations it is behaviour that happens all year round regardless of nesting time or not.  We wonder why?  Something about the yellow helmet and motor bike flag that the magpie does not take like?   Or is he protecting our property?  Or does he see the posite as competition? Thank goodness the postie takes it in his stride!</center>
