I'm not a big city guy, in fact I left Mexico city in 2016 and I have never gone back for more than a few days when I have to get legal issues sorted out or I visit my family. The constant traffic, spread chaos, lack of time, excess of information and overflow of interactions, are things I will never miss and, even though living in a small town half an hour from a big city and 2 hours away from Mexico city has a negative side, the pros definitely beat the cons' ass.

One of the positive aspects of living in a small town is that I am 5 minutes away from my Tuesday & Thursday swimming sessions. The negative side? Well, the pool's size man, it makes me feel as if I am 8 years old going to my swimming lessons. It's just a 12 meter long pool, but it is the only pool I have nearby that I can enroll without having to get inside the city.

Look at the bright side, I only have to share the pool with 3 more people and one of them is my girlfriend, so it's like having our side of the pool for ourselves and we get to spend some time together competing with each other and giving each other advice. We even have some old as fuck magazines for people to read while waiting their turn on the pool. Sick, right?

One of the best parts of small town living, and those who live in the midwest USA will get the feeling, is that I pay 300 bucks for a two story house with a 150 square meter garden for the dogs. That's cheap even for Mexican standards, and for that amount in Mexico city I would get a small one bedroom apartment in a mid-to-low-class neighborhood, no parking spot and most likely old as fuck. The negative side of rent amounts is well, you get what you pay for and if you thought Mexican's are lazy and mediocre well, imagine how townsmen-made houses are... the house I'm living in is great, but it took me a very long time to find one with good plumbing, a decent electrical installation, normal heat and cold insulation, and not too close from the cow stables - you know, because of the flies and the smell -  that are located everywhere in town.

I can walk everywhere which is great, I haven't had to use the car except for when I go to the pool. The downside is, there's nothing to walk to. Everything is located in the downtown area which is basically a two block square with a few restaurants, some basic needs stores, the local bar, and ice cream shop, the church, and damn, that's it. There's nothing to do in my small town and yet, I don't mind, because that means nobody ever will want to come live here and we will always be a few thousand people living here in harmony. The downside is that everyone knows each other and well, I don't think I have to explain why that is a downside.

I was aiming for a longer post but damn, I'm just not feeling it today. Writer's block if you may, but hey I set the goal for myself of writing one post every day  so, here goes nothing.
