Very interesting. However meltdown and spectre  vulnerabilities affect all modern CPUs and Qubes can't not protect itself from them. Even with VMs. 
If CPUs leak data, a VM can get a password typed in another VM.
But it is an interesting choice. And will be useful when new CPUs arrive.

I've had a play around with Qubes but prefer using linux mint for my daily computing need.

I think another interesting project to look at is purism as they are focussed on securing the hardware as well with Qubes being their OS of choice.
