>In this opportunity I want to share a genre of electronic music which in recent years has gained a lot of strength and personally is one of the genres of electronic music that are on my favorites list and of which I identify myself, the Synthwave.

>Synthwave, also called futuresynth, retrowave, or electrowave. This genre of electronic music is strongly influenced by the soundtracks of series B movies and video games of the 80s. In recent years this very special genre, mainly supported by irreducible and nostalgic Internet communities of the 80s, has been resurrected with a lot of strength.

En ésta oportunidad quiero compartir un género de la música electrónica el cual estos últimos años ha tomado mucha fuerza y en lo personal es uno de los géneros de música electrónica que están en mi lista de favoritos y de los cuales me identifico, el Synthwave.

Synthwave, también llamado futuresynth, retrowave o electrowave. Este género de música electrónica está fuertemente influenciado por las bandas sonoras de películas de serie B y videojuegos de los años 80. En los últimos años este género tan especial, principalmente amparado en comunidades de Internet irreductibles y nostálgicas de los años 80, ha resucitado con muchísima fuerza.

>A characteristic of this excellent genre of electronic music is that it sounds as much to the 80's as to the future. The name already warns us, synthesizers are a fundamental part of this genre and, therefore, the appearance of the first synthesizers and the use that was made of them in the music of the 80s.

>We see the fuse that ignited to explode in the shape of the Synthwave. These first synthesizers were very little versatile that the musical structures that were used with them were quite minimalist, to the point of being labeled as Minimal Wave to what would be the progenitors of the Synthwave.

>Synthwave, towards the middle of 2005 and since then, had a very important and key revival to understand the current popularity of the genre. Artists such as David Grellier aka College, Louis la Roche, Anoraak, Electric Youth and Kavinsky emerge.

>Kavinsky would compose "Nightcall" for the Drive soundtrack directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and that soundtrack was the ultimate accolade for Synthwave to spread like a delicious disease. Surely you have heard the soundtrack of such an iconic film and you have found it incredible.

Una Característica de este excelente género de la música electrónica es que suena tanto a los años 80 como al futuro. El nombre ya nos pone sobre aviso, los sintetizadores son parte fundamental de este género y, por lo tanto, la aparición de los primeros sintetizadores y del uso que se hizo de ellos en la música de los años 80.

 Vemos la mecha que prendió para estallar en la forma del Synthwave. Estos primeros sintetizadores eran muy poco versátiles que las estructuras musicales que se empleaban con ellos eran bastante minimalistas, hasta el punto de etiquetarse como Minimal Wave a lo que sería los progenitores del Synthwave.

El Synthwave, hacia mediados del año 2005 y desde entonces, tuvo un resurgir importantísimo y clave para entender la actual popularidad del género. Surgen artistas como David Grellier alias College, Louis la Roche, Anoraak, Electric Youth y Kavinsky. 

Kavinsky compondría "Nightcall" para la banda sonora de Drive dirigida por Nicolas Winding Refn y dicha banda sonora fue el espaldarazo definitivo para que el Synthwave se expandiera como una deliciosa enfermedad. Seguro que has oído la banda sonora de tan icónica película y te ha parecido increíble.

>Another notable feature of this genre of electronic music are the images of CD covers, images of the artists and wallpapers of landscapes, cars or abstract images where sunsets and nights stand out with many neon lights the same in the videos, everything very colorful referring to the 80s and at the same time referring to the future.

Otra característica notable de este género de la música electrónica son las imágenes de las portadas de CD’S, imágenes de los artistas y fondos de pantalla de paisajes, autos o imágenes abstractas donde destacan atardeceres y noches con muchas luces de neón igual en los videos, todo muy colorido haciendo referencia a los años 80 y a la vez haciendo referencia al futuro.

>Jordy Leenaerts is a Dutch synthwave musician known by his stage name Timecop1983. Leenaerts became interested in making music on the computer with a tracker at the age of 12. Due to the popularity of synthesizer pop, he started out in 2014 as Timecop1983 and released his debut album Childhood Memories that year. His aliases emerged as a mixture of his year of birth and futurecop.

Jordy Leenaerts es un músico holandés del genero synthwave conocido por su nombre artístico Timecop1983. Leenaerts se interesó en hacer música en la computadora con un rastreador a la edad de 12 años. Debido a la popularidad del pop sintetizador, comenzó en 2014 como Timecop1983 y lanzó su álbum debut Childhood Memories ese año. Su alias, surgió como una mezcla su año de nacimiento y futurecop.

>It is a synthwave band composed of Atlanta-based Jamison Tyler Lyle and Los Angeles-based Danish producer, songwriter, and singer Tim Daniel McEwan.
The band formed Inspired in part by the Drive soundtrack and the retro synth genre that grows around its release, they wrote two singles, "WeMoveForward" and "Gloria," to be released two years later in 2014 as part of their debut EP titled Days of Thunder.
The band's motto is "unaware monkey" (物 の 哀 れ), a Japanese phrase that loosely translates to "a sense of nostalgia and the awareness that nothing lasts forever"

The Midnight

Es una banda de synthwave compuesta por Jamison Tyler Lyle, con sede en Atlanta, y el productor, compositor y cantante danés Tim Daniel McEwan, residente en Los Ángeles.
La banda se formó Inspirados en parte por la banda sonora de Drive y el género de sintetizadores retro que crece en torno a su lanzamiento, escribieron dos sencillos, "WeMoveForward" y "Gloria", que se lanzarían dos años después en 2014 como parte de su EP debut titulado Days of Thunder.
El lema de la banda es "mono no consciente" (物 の 哀 れ), una frase japonesa que se traduce libremente como "un sentido de nostalgia y la conciencia de que nada dura para siempre"

>New Arcades is a London-based electronic music duo of Dean Canty and Adam Sullivan. Featuring a combination of classic synthesizers, contemporary production, and melodic vocals; create a nostalgic sound inspired by the 80s.
After releasing several singles and EPs, her debut album Returns Home was released in late 2019. They are currently releasing music through AWAL. Their music has also appeared in films such as "Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong" and "A Light Beneath Their Feet" and more recently they contributed an exclusive track to the mobile game "RetroDrive."
During this time they have also played several shows across the UK, as well as a live studio session for BBC Radio. They are currently busy writing their next album with more live shows currently booked for 2021.

New Arcades es un dúo de música electrónica con sede en Londres formado por Dean Canty y Adam Sullivan.  Con una combinación de sintetizadores clásicos, producción contemporánea y voces melódicas; crean un sonido nostálgico inspirado en los 80. 
Después de lanzar varios sencillos y EP, a fines de 2019 se lanzó su álbum debut, Returns Home. Actualmente están lanzando música a través de AWAL. Su música también ha aparecido en películas como “Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong” y “A Light Beneath Their Feet” y más recientemente contribuyeron con una pista exclusiva para el juego móvil “RetroDrive”. 
Durante este tiempo también han tocado varios programas en todo el Reino Unido, así como una sesión de estudio en vivo para BBC Radio. Actualmente están ocupados escribiendo su próximo álbum con más shows en vivo actualmente reservados para 2021.
