I think this question requires the assumption that there is actually such a thing as evil. I can’t deny that there is suffering in the world. In order to be evil we have to judge it as evil first. And all judgments are based on the beliefs of a society. Therefore in some cultures it was acceptable to throw people into a fire as a sacrifice to some god they believed would destroy them without the sacrifice. In our culture the thought of human sacrifice is abhorrent. Therefore I believe at the least that evil is relative to the culture of a society.
Another question is that we are just a blip in the timeline of the universe and in the long run nothing can be good or evil as our outlook as a species is only a temporary bump on the cosmic scale. Therefore there is actually no good or evil, and everything is based on societal norms.
Suffering on the other hand is due to human greed. Everywhere we see suffering, there is a corrupt political structure hanging over the people’s heads. Power and control of the masses.
