Hi there Travelers and Hivers, I hope you are well and that you eventually enjoyed [the first episode](https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@anttn/a-three-day-hike-in-the-vercors-mountains-day-one--searching-for-altitude) of this hike ! I invite you to check it out to see what the first climb was like. Here we are when we wake up from this night which was exquisite because we were completely tired ^^ ! <br>    <br> The day seems to be very beautiful and the mist that rises here usually only stays for a short time. Enough anyway for us to enjoy beautiful images and an almost Japanese landscape that changes and evolves every second before our eyes. <br>   <br> For breakfast we prepare a simple oatmeal, a hot tea and dried fruit. We'll say it's the best weight-nutrition ratio :) <br>   <br> We pay a last visit to the hut not far from the spring where we fill our bottles. When I go hiking, I always have a 5-liters bag, but it's my emergency reserve and I use my water bottles first... <br>    <br> That's it, after having folded our tent and put away our few minimal things, we set off... Already the first marmots come out of their burrows to explore the surroundings. They greet us with their little shrill cries as we pass. They are quite fat and it seems that they are already stocking up for the autumn and winter... A small clarification concerning the quality of the images. All these were taken with my Iphone. However, a lot of them come from screen captures of my videos and it seems that the quality is less in these cases. This explains the disparity of sharpness and rendering among the images in this article ! <br>  <br> Here we go ! We won't stop walking until just after midday... <br>    <br> We enter an area covered with limestone blocks and where we find shells dating from the Second World War. Indeed, there were many French resistance fighters who had retreated to these mountains and carried out sabotage actions in the more populated valleys. But we will come back to this later... <br>  <br> The goal of the day ? To go as far as possible while sparing our strength. The initial idea was to hike for almost a week, but you'll see on the third day why that couldn't be the case ! <br>    <br> We reach the memorial dedicated to the Vercors Resistance fighters, a story that inevitably echoes the current social movements and the need to resist tyrants more than ever ! <br>   <br> In the same area, we find the refuge 'Les Chamailloux' which is at 1640m altitude. We hesitate to spend the night there, but finally, it is quite early in the afternoon and we decide to continue... In the end, the future will tell us that we did the right thing ! <br>  <br> Here is a more general view of the site where we can see the Mont Aiguille, this famous mountain which looks more like a tooth and which culminates at 2085 meters. But our path will lead us to a better point of view...! <br>    <br> After having taken enough water (see episode I ^^) we set off again. This time, our objective is 'Tête Chevalière' a prominence that ends in a cliff facing the Mont Aiguille. There, we will be more than 300 meters above our current point... <br>  <br> This is one of the best views I've taken all day, one of the clearest and once again it's amazing the disparity in quality between the photos and the screenshots of videos taken with the same camera... But let's move on and continue our adventure :) <br>  <br> After a good hour of rather steep climbing, we arrived not far from the prominence where we plan to spend the rest of the day and set up our camp... When I see this picture again, I can't help but think of the Lord of the Rings and more particularly of Rohan... <br>   <br> Finally, we have arrived ! The view is breathtaking, but we don't know it yet... The clouds are obscuring the horizon and for the moment we are just enjoying the excitement of the day and sitting on the grass in the sun ! <br>   <br> After a short time, I launch the evening meal which will be composed of a freeze-dried dish and egg pasta with just olive oil and soy sauce. This last element may seem basic but in this case, it was a real delight :) <br>  <br> Meanwhile, my girlfriend has set up the tent where we can already store our stuff. Indeed, even if it's still daylight, it's already getting quite cold and wet ! <br>    <br> Little by little, the clouds retreat and the panorama clears a little more... <br>  <br> Here it is above and I highly recommend you to enlarge it to enjoy the details ! <br>  <br> Here is our base camp in Rohan ^^ ! <br>     <br> The night falls little by little and as it does so, the terribly damp mist lifts. Even if it is still light, we go to bed quite early. The idea behind all this is to have a good night and to get up to see the sunrise... Je vous invite à aller y faire un tour pour voir quelle aura été la première ascension. Nous voilà au réveil de cette nuit qui fut exquise puisque nous étions complètement fatigués ^^ ! <br>    <br> La journée semble s'annoncer très belle et la brume qui se lève ici reste généralement que peu de temps. Assez de toutes façons pour que nous puissions en profiter pour de belles images et un paysage presque japonais qui change et évolue à chaque seconde sous nos yeux. <br>   <br> Pour le petit déjeuner, nous préparons un gruau simple de flocons d'avoine, un thé bien chaud et des fruits séchés. On va dire que c'est le meilleur ration poids - rapport nutritif :) <br>   <br> Nous partons rendre une dernière visite à la cabane non loin de la source où nous remplissons nos bouteilles. Lorsque je pars en randonnée, j'ai toujours une poche de 5 litres, mais c'est plutôt ma réserve d'urgence et j'utilise en priorité mes gourdes... <br>    <br> Ça y est, après avoir replié notre tente et rangé nos quelques affaires minimales, nous nous mettons en route... Déjà les premières marmottes sortent de leurs terriers pour explorer les environs. Elles nous saluent de leurs petits cris stridents alors que nous passons. Celles-ci sont assez grasses et il semblerait qu'elles fassent déjà leurs réserves pour l'automne et l'hiver... Petite précision concernant la qualité des images. Toutes celles-ci ont été réalisées avec mon Iphone. Pour autant, une bonne part provient des captures d'écrans de mes vidéos et il semblerait que la qualité soit moindre dans ces cas-là. Ceci expliquant la disparité de piqué et de rendu parmi les images de cet article ! <br>  <br> Nous voilà lancés ! Nous ne nous arrêterons pas de marcher jusqu'à un peu plus de midi passé... <br>    <br> On entre dans une zone couverte de blocs de calcaire et où on retrouve des obus datant de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. En effet, il y a eu beaucoup de résistants français qui s'étaient repliés dans ces montagnes et menaient des actions de sabotages dans les vallées plus peuplées. Mais nous reverrons cela un peu plus loin... <br>  <br> L'objectif de cette journée ? Aller le plus loin possible tout en ménageant nos forces. L'idée initiale était de randonner pendant près d'une semaine, mais vous verrez lors du troisième jour pourquoi cela n'a pas pu être le cas ! <br>    <br> Nous parvenons au mémorial dédié aux Résistants du Vercors, une histoire qui fait forcément écho avec les mouvements sociaux actuels et le besoin plus criant que jamais de résister aux tyrans ! <br>   <br> Dans le même périmètre, on retrouve le refuge 'Les Chamailloux' qui est à 1640m d'altitude. Nous hésitons à passer la nuit-là, mais finalement, il est assez tôt dans l'après-midi et nous décidons de continuer... Finalement, l'avenir nous dira que nous avons bien fait ! <br>  <br> Voilà une vue plus générale du site où l'on aperçois notamment le Mont Aiguille, cette célèbre montagne qui ressemble plutôt à une dent et qui culmine à 2085 mètres. Mais notre chemin nous mènera à un meilleur point de vue..! <br>    <br> Après avoir repris assez d'eau (voir épisode I ^^) nous nous remettons en route. Cette fois, notre objectif c'est 'Tête Chevalière' une proéminence qui se termine par une falaise face au Mont Aiguille. Là bas, nous serons à plus de 300 au dessus de notre point actuel... <br>  <br> Voilà une des meilleures vues que j'ai pu réalisée de la journée, une des plus claires et c'est encore une fois étonant la disparité de qualité entre les photos et les captures d'écran de vidéos prises avec le même appareil... Mais passons et continuons notre aventure :) <br>  <br> Après une bonne heure de montée plutôt raide, nous voilà arrivés non loin de la proéminence où nous pensons passer le reste de la journée et installer notre campement... En revoyant cette image, je ne peux m'empêcher de penser au Seigneur des Anneaux et plus particulièrement au Rohan ^^ ! <br>   <br> Enfin, nous voilà arrivés ! La vue est à couper le souffle, mais nous ne le savons pas encore... Les nuages masquent l'horizon et pour l'instant, nous profitons juste des effets d'excitation de la journée et de nous asseoir dans l'herbe face au soleil ! <br>   <br> Après peu de temps, je lance le repas du soir qui sera composé d'un plat lyophilisé et de pâtes au oeufs avec juste de l'huile d'olive et de la sauce soja. Ce dernier élément peut paraître basique mais dans ce cas-là, c'était un véritable délice ! <br>  <br> Pendant ce temps là, ma copine a monté la tente où nous pouvons déjà entreposer nos affaires. En effet et même s'il fait encore jour, il commence déjà à faire assez froid et humide ! <br>    <br> Petit à petit, les nuages se retirent et le panorama se dégage un peu davantage... <br>  <br> Justement le voilà ci-dessus et je vous recommande vivement d'agrandir celui-ci pour profiter des détails ! <br>  <br> Voilà notre camps de base dans le Rohan ^^ ! <br>     <br> La nuit tombe peu à peu et au fur et à mesure, la brume terriblement humide se lève. Même s'il fait encore jour, nous nous couchons assez tôt. L'idée derrière tout cela et de faire une bonne nuit et de se lever pour voir le lever de soleil... Magnifique ! C'est un secteur que j'ai également largement arpenté mais en passant par Gresse-en-Vercors. La montée sur le Grand Veymont est difficile mais la récompense est ultime avec une vue sur le Mont Aiguille imprenable. De plus, les hommages aux maquisards sont très émouvants, il y a également une stèle au Pas-de-la-Ville avant l'ascension ultime du Grand Veymont par la pierraie. A voir

Pour le grand Veymont, je suis parti du bas des pistes de Gresse-en-Vercors. il y a un GR très pentu mais sympa qui passe par la forêt en direction du col du Pas-de-la-Ville. Au Pas-de-la-ville, tu as une jolie vue sur la vallée de Gresse qui est absolument superbe. Puis c'est la montée directe sur le Veymont avec une pierraie assez cass-gueule : il faut être bien chausser. Au sommet, la vue est splentide sur le Mont Aiguille, la vallée de gresse , les deux soeurs : Agathe et Sophie et au loin le Devoluy. A faire. Pour moi, ça remonte à une vingtaine d'année mais ça me démange d'y retourner. J'ai plutôt traîné en Auvergne et le Sancy ces derniers temps.
