Hello everyone, this is actually the first time am visiting this community of #hivenaija as it's been piloted by @belemo whom I or anyone can follow to view other writers' posts nationwide.

I decided to share with you how I gained experience from my grandmother on how to grind pepper, tomato, Onion, etc.

Grinding stone is the oldest style of grinding any cooking items before cooking any food. The stone is actually gotten from metamorphic stone/rock. The stone could be in any shape but mostly in a round shape. The grinding stone has a smaller stone that serves as a pestle.

Let me discuss with you a little, My name is **Christian Onyemauche**and that's my username on Facebook. I was born in Imo State Nigeria but I grew up with my grandmother in Afikpo North of Ebonyi State. I am a professional Librarian and an Electrical Technician. I love Researching, Reading, and Writing about life.

Why I decided to tell you a bit about myself is to let you know how I was able to know how to grind with a local grinding stone.
I grew up with my late grandmother. She was a beautiful and loving grandmother before she died. When she was alive she taught me so many good things in life.

It was through my grandmother that I was able to learn how to use grinding stone as a man. After my grandmother died, I have no option but to face the reality of life. After I finished higher institution, God made ways for me to where I am today.

One faithful day, I wanted to grind pepper and tomatoes that I wanted to use for stew making. My grinder was not available from my kitchen because a gave it out to a neighbor who went out for a church program. I never knew what to do, I remembered that they were an old woman living close to my house who has a grinding stone.
When I met the old woman and requested for her stone for grinding." she asked me if I can be able to use the stone". I answered yes of course mama! She said okay.
I took the stone and started the grinding.

**Grindind stone problem:**
One major problem about grinding with local grinder stone is that "it's difficult when grinding because it will be affecting your waist as you bend to grind". Before you will be able to grind with a local grinding stone, you must be able to squat down and by so doing."Your waist may be affected. 

Another problem associated with local grinding stone is that" when grinding," what you're grinding may be falling out from the stone if not properly handled.

**Benefits of the local grinding stone:**
When you grind any of your cooking items with a local grinding stone. Items which you grind will be smoother than when you used a modern grinder except when you keep grinding.

Most times in life, whenever big items that are meant for occasions are to be grinded. Electric or machine grinder is most preferable.
