# The most cantankerous cat on the internet, Grumpy Cat can be found scowling over everything from Mondays to romance.

Believe it or not she is not photoshopped!  Her permagrump is caused by an underbite and feline dwarfism.

Tartar Sauce was born April 4, 2012.  Her owner Tabatha's brother Bryan Bundesen posted a photo of Tartar Sauce on Reddit when she was but a 5 month old kitten, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Born to a calico mother and unknown father in a litter of four, Tartar Sauce was the only kitten with her condition.

Quickly dubbed Grumpy Cat, she became an instant internet celebrity.  Parodies of her photos went viral thanks to creative Reddit users.

It didn't take long before Tabatha had to take a leave of absence from her job at Red Lobster to manage Grumpy Cat's busy schedule.

And with her quick rise to fame, Grumpy soon was approached by Ben Lashes, who also represents Keyboard Cat and Nyan Cat.  Ben runs Grumpy Cat's YouTube channel, website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

Grumpy Cat has lines of books, t-shirts, mugs, toys, and iced coffee.  She makes appearances in television shows such as the Today show, WWE and American Idol.  She has been featured in Forbes and Time.  But her appearances are limited to one per week according to her handlers.

She even starred in a feature length film- Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever, which premiered November 2014.

In September 2013, Friskies announced Grumpy Cat as the Official Spokescat of Friskies.  When she makes an appearance, Friskies sets her up with a chauffer, private hotel room with king size bed, and a personal assistant.
