The more I think about the Supreme Court's decision that New York's laws regarding right to carry a gun unconstitutional, the more I realize that there should be no controversy about the decision. Even if you don't like the constitution, New York's law was wrong.

I'm lucky enough to have not personally known anybody like Carol Browne who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend while the state of New Jersey was still reviewing her application to get permission to have a gun. What I've heard too many times from too many friends is, "I won't allow myself to be a victim again."

That word "again" should stick with everybody, especially the gun grabbers. The fact that there are enough people who have been violently and/or sexually assaulted who I know personally is bad enough. But, there are thousands of people every year who never get to say "again". There are too many people who don't live through the first time that they were targeted by a maniac and couldn't fight back because they weren't armed.

New York's law was so draconian that you almost had to show that you've already been raped and you had legitimate fear of being raped again to get permission to carry a gun. Even then, there were a ton of restrictions that could land people in jail if they had to defend themselves while inhabiting one if the state's legal landmines.

The callousness of the gun grabbers seems to dissipate a bit when somebody says, "I'll never be a victim again." It doesn't dissipate enough. Still, why do these people have to hear "again" to gain perspective? "Again" means that it's happened at least once already. How about, "I'll never be a victim." If that seems less valid to you without the word "again" I question your moral fortitude.
