# <center>A Fraction Of a Bitcoin Is Better Than No Bitcoin At All</center>

In the world of cryptocurrencies, my focus is almost entirely on Hive.

Most of what I own in terms of crypto is here, and if I dream of what I have one day being worth much, much more, I do so thinking only of Hive: a x100 here would be life-changing, whereas elsewhere it would be nice, helpful even, but not enough to truly change my life.

However, one of the first lessons I learned—*sometimes the hard way*—is that you should never put all your eggs in one basket.

No matter how promising something is, if you bet **only** on that, you risk ending up with nothing if things go wrong. And when you've spent time building something, the last thing you want is to lose it all overnight.

That’s why, even though Hive is and remains my main focus, I'm trying to diversify my investments, at least a little, by building small value reserves elsewhere.

This gives me two advantages:
- if things ever go south on Hive—*whether due to a hack of my account or a drop in HIVE’s value*—I won’t have lost everything: maybe 80 or 90 percent, but not absolutely everything;
- if one of the other cryptocurrencies I hold skyrockets in value, I’d benefit from it, increasing my chances that a lucky break could help me build a value reserve with a **significant impact** on my life.

## <center>Where to start?</center>

To reach my goal, the first thing I asked myself was: what other cryptocurrencies am I interested in accumulating?

After thinking long and hard, I realized the answer was... none 😅

Yeah, because the more I thought about it, the more I realized I didn’t really know anything well aside from Hive itself... and what’s the point in investing in something I don’t understand?

In my opinion, there’s none—because that would mean relying purely on luck, and I’ve never liked that.

But since the underlying idea—*diversification*—is a good one, I asked myself a simpler question: are there cryptocurrencies that have, over the years, steadily increased in value and proven solid enough to survive just about anything, so that you don’t need to constantly stay informed or have deep technical knowledge?

And the answer to that question was much easier: **Bitcoin**.

Bitcoin is now so well known that, even without trying, you come across information about it almost everywhere.

What’s more, many consider Bitcoin a **store of value**, and simply accumulating it can, in the long run, result in increased value.

## <center>Here’s the starting point</center>

So, with that decision made, I kicked off my plan: using a small passive income stream I have to regularly buy a bit of satoshi—fractions of Bitcoin.

If you're wondering what you're looking at in the image above, here’s the explanation:
- my passive income totals about 10 USDT per month, which I earn through a betting site—*BetFury, where I got lucky with referrals*.
- every month I take those 10 USDT and move them to [Polygon](https://polygon.technology/)—*why Polygon? Because fees are incredibly low, and with just 10 dollars I unfortunately couldn’t aim to hold BTC natively on the Bitcoin chain*.
- once on Polygon, I swap the 10 USDT for WBTC.

There’s also a fourth step, as you can see from the image above—a step that will surely make some people cringe—but one of the few “scams” I’ve fallen victim to happened because I had tokens sitting idle. Since then, I prefer to keep my assets on protocols I consider safe, even if they yield little to nothing.

I keep my WBTC deposited on [Aave](https://aave.com/):

The APR is negligible—*less than 0.01%*—but even if it’s just a feeling, I feel safer.

In this way, very slowly, I hope to accumulate a bit of Bitcoin: sure, what I’ll own will only ever be fractions of Bitcoin, but who knows—maybe ten years from now, even one or two hundredths of a BTC could turn out to be a nice little sum. Maybe not enough to change your life, but then again... who knows?

# <center>Una Frazione di Bitcoin E' Meglio di Nessun Bitcoin</center>

Nel mondo delle criptovalute la mia attenzione è, per la quasi sua totalità, rivolta verso Hive.

La maggior parte di ciò che possiedo in termini di crypto si trova qui e, se devo sognare che un giorno quel che ho possa valere molto, molto di più, lo faccio pensando esclusivamente ad Hive: un x100 qui mi cambierebbe la vita, mentre altrove mi farebbe piacere, mi sarebbe di aiuto, ma non mi consentirebbe di cambiare chissà che nella mia vita.

Tuttavia una delle prime lezioni che ho imparato - *anche a mie spese* - è che non bisogna tenere tutte le uova in un solo paniere.

Per quanto qualcosa possa essere bello, se si punta **solo** su quello, si rischia, se qualcosa va storto, di ritrovarsi con nulla in mano. E quando si è speso tempo a costruire qualcosa, l'ultima cosa che ci si augura è di perdere tutto quanto così, dal giorno alla mattina.

Ecco perchè, anche se Hive è e rimane il mio focus principale, sto cercando di diversificare, almeno un minimo, il mio investimento, provando a costruire delle piccole riserve di valore altrove.

Questo mi dà infatti due vantaggi:
- se mai su Hive le cose dovessero andare male - *che sia per una hack del mio account o un crollo nel valore di HIVE* - non mi ritroverei ad aver perso tutto: magari l'80 il 90 per cento, ma almeno non ogni cosa;
- se una delle altre cryptovalute che possiedo dovesse aumentare vertiginosamente il proprio valore, riuscirei a beneficiarne, aumentando così le mie chances che un colpo di fortuna possa aiutarmi a costruire una riserva di valore capace di avere un **impatto significativo** sulla mia vita.

## <center>Da dove partire?</center>

Per raggiungere il mio obiettivo, la prima cosa che mi sono chiesto è: quali altre crypto sono interessato ad accumulare?

Dopo averci pensato a lungo, ho capito che la risposta era... nessuna 😅

Be', sì, perchè più ci pensavo, più mi accorgevo che non conoscevo bene niente che non fosse Hive stessa... e che senso ha investire su qualcosa che non conosco nè capisco bene?

Secondo me nessuno, perchè così si punta solo ad avere fortuna e questo è un qualcosa che non mi è mai piaciuto.

Dato che però l'idea alla base - *diversificare* - è buona, mi sono allora chiesto, più semplicemente: ci sono cryptovalute che, tendenzialmente, hanno negli anni aumentato il loro valore in maniera stabile e dimostrato di essere così solide da resistere un po' a qualsiasi situazione, rendendo non necessario restare sempre informati o avere chissà quali conoscenze tecniche?

E la risposta a questa domanda è stata molto più semplice: **Bitcoin**.

Bitcoin è ormai così famoso che, anche non volendo, un po' ovunque si leggono informazioni a suo riguardo.

Bitcoin, inoltre, è da molti considerato una **riserva di valore** e può essere sufficiente accumularlo per vederne, a lungo andare, il suo valore aumentare.

## <center>Ecco il punto di partenza</center>

Quindi, fatta questa scelta, ho dato inizio al mio piano: usare una piccola fonte di rendita passiva che ho a disposizione per acquistare regolarmente un po' di satoshi, ossia frazioni di Bitcoin.

Se vi state chiedendo cosa state guardando nell'immagine qua sopra, ecco la spiegazione:
- la mia rendita passiva ammonta a circa 10 USDT al mese, che accumulo su un sito di scommesse - *BetFury, dove ho avuto un po' di fortuna con i referrals*.
- ogni mese prendo questi circa 10 USDT e li trasferisco su [Polygon](https://polygon.technology/) - *perchè Polygon? Perchè le commissioni sono bassissime e con 10 dollari non potevo, purtroppo, puntare a detenere BTC nativamente sulla chain Bitcoin*.
- una volta su Polygon, swappo i 10 USDT in cambio di WBTC.

C'è anche un quarto step, però, come si può vedere sempre dall'immagine sopra, step che sicuramente farà ulteriormente storcere il naso a molti, ma una delle poche "truffe" che ho subito mi è capitata perchè avevo dei token fermi a non fare nulla, per cui da allora preferisco sempre tenere ciò che possiedo su protocolli che reputo sicuri, anche se in cambio ottengo poco e nulla.

I miei WBTC li tengo infatti depositati su [Aave](https://aave.com/):

L'APR è irrilevante - *meno dello 0.01%* - ma, per quanto sicuramente sia solo una mia impressione, io così mi sento più tranquillo.

In questo modo, con molta calma, spero di riuscire ad accumulare un po' di Bitcoin: certo, ciò che possiederò saranno sempre e solo frazioni di Bitcoin, ma chissà che tra 10 anni anche un centesimo o due di BTC non possa rivelarsi una bella somma. Magari non abbastanza da cambiarti la vita, ma in fondo, chi lo sa?
