## <center>Brawls, Tournaments, and my First Prize in a Tourney!</center>

The most famous mode in Splinterlands are definitely the ranked matches, i.e. battles in which matchmaking pairs us against a random opponent with a similar rating and where victory or defeat immediately determines whether or not a prize is awarded.

In addition to ranked matches, however, Splinterlands also offers other game modes in which additional rewards can be obtained:


- Brawls
- Tournaments

## <center>Brawls</center>

In order to enter a brawl, one must first join a [Guild](https://splinterlands.com/?p=guilds), either by applying to one of the open-access ones or by asking to be invited to one of the closed ones.

Brawls see the players of a Guild going up against the players of the other Guilds: the matches are individual, but every victory achieved by each player is then added to those achieved by his teammates and, in the end, the Guild with the most victories takes the lead - *and the biggest prize* - while the others are placed behind it, one after the other, in order of victories achieved.


The prize, therefore, instead of being awarded at the end of each match, is only awarded at the end of the brawl and according to the collective performance of the Guild.

## <center>Tournaments</center>

Tournaments are, in a certain sense, a mix between ranked matches and brawls:


- they are in fact competitions in which only the individual player's performance counts
- but at the same time prizes are only awarded at the end of the tournament.


To enter a tournament you must register in the appropriate [section](https://splinterlands.com/?p=tournaments), choosing one or more tournaments that interest you thanks to the many filters available.

Access to the tournament may be free or for a fee and a prize is awarded to participants on the basis of the position they achieve at the end of the tournament. Beware, however, that the prizes available are often less than the number of participants, so it is usually required to achieve at least a specific position in order to be able to receive one.


Tournaments also have entry requirements that must be met before we can register; depending on the level of the tournament, we will be required to have


- a certain number of staked SPS
- a certain amount of Collection Power


It is important to know that SPS and borrowed cards on the market **COUNT** towards these thresholds.

## <center>My first prize in a Tournament!</center>

Until recently I had never participated in a tournament, because, as can be deduced from what I have written above, it is somewhat the most complicated mode available on Splinterlands: entry fee, participation requirements, increased competitiveness due to the prizes available only for a portion of the players, are all elements that make tournaments a bit more difficult to understand and evaluate for beginners.


After a long time, however, I decided to give them a try - *also thanks to the recent introduction of a large number of tournaments with free entry* - and, although I can confirm that the difficulty is very high, a few days ago I managed, for the first time, to win one of the available prizes, earning an impressive...

... 27 SPS!

Yeah, it's not that much of a prize, but it's still almost $1 for just playing a few games. If one had the ability to win more frequently and enter even more prestigious tournaments, this number would go up very quickly!


The prize is in fact for a **Bronze level** tournament, so it is one of the lowest: my collection unfortunately doesn't allow me to do more than that, but there are players who, in part by renting, achieve outstanding results!


Two players, in particular, that I would recommend you to follow are @mango-juice and @zaku: both are very active in tournaments and achieve many victories, managing to earn far more interesting prizes than mine, proving the great potential of this mode.

My advice is therefore to take advantage of the current availability of many free tournaments to familiarise yourself with this mode, in order to add another element to your CV as a Splinterlands player :)

La modalità più famosa di Splinterlands sono sicuramente le partite classificate, ossia le battaglie in cui il matchmaking ci accoppia contro un avversario casuale che abbia un rating simile al nostro e dove la vittoria o sconfitta determinano subito l'attribuzione, o meno, di un premio.

Oltre alle partite classificate, tuttavia, Splinterlands offre anche altre modalità di gioco in cui è possibile ottenere ulteriori premi:

- le Brawls
- i Tornei

## <center>Brawl</center>

Per poter accedere ad una brawl occorre innanzitutto entrare a far parte di una [Gilda](https://splinterlands.com/?p=guilds), facendo richiesta ad una di quelle ad accesso libero o chiedendo di essere invitati ad una di quelle chiuse.

Le brawls vedono i giocatori di una Gilda scontrarsi contro i giocatori delle altre Gilde: gli scontri sono singoli, ma le vittorie ottenute da ogni giocatore sono poi sommate a quelle ottenute dai suoi compagni e, alla fine, la Gilda con più vittorie conquista la testa della classifica - *ed il premio più grande* - mentre le altre si collocano alle sue spalle, una dietro l'altra, in ordine di vittorie conseguite.

Il premio, quindi, invece che essere assegnato al termine di ogni partita, viene attribuito solo alla fine di ogni singola brawl e sulla base della prestazione collettiva della propria Gilda.

## <center>Tornei</center>

I Tornei sono, in un certo senso, un misto tra le partite classificate e le brawls:

- sono infatti competizioni in cui rileva solo la prestazione del singolo giocatore
- ma al contempo i premi sono attribuiti solamente alla fine del torneo

Per accedere ad un torneo occorre iscriversi nell'apposita [sezione](https://splinterlands.com/?p=tournaments), scegliendo uno o più tornei che ci interessano grazie anche all'ausilio dei molti filtri a disposizione.

L'accesso al torneo può essere gratuito o a pagamento e prevede l'assegnazione di un premio ai partecipanti sulla base della posizione che gli stessi occupano al termine del torneo stesso: attenzione però che spesso i premi a disposizione sono inferiori al numero di partecipanti, per cui di solito è necessario raggiungere almeno una determinata posizione per poterne ottenere uno.

I tornei hanno inoltre dei requisiti di partecipazione che devono essere soddisfatti, prima di poterci iscrivere; a seconda del livello del torneo ci sarà infatti richiesto di avere:

- un certo numero di SPS in stake
- un certo ammontare di Collection Power

E' importante sapere che gli SPS e le carte prese in prestito sul mercato **CONTANO** ai fini del raggiungimento di queste soglie.

## <center>La mia prima vincita in un Torneo!</center>

Fino a poco tempo fa non avevo mai partecipato ad un torneo, perchè, come si evince da quanto ho scritto sopra, si tratta della modalità un po' più complicata disponibile su Splinterlands: costo di ingresso, requisiti di partecipazione, maggior competitività stante i premi disponibili alla fine per solo una parte dei giocatori, sono tutti fattori che rendono i Tornei un po' più difficili da comprendere e valutare per i giocatori alle prime armi.

Dopo tanto tempo mi sono però deciso a fare un tentativo - *anche grazie alla recente introduzione di un gran numero di tornei ad ingresso gratuito* - e, sebbene possa confermare che la difficoltà sia molto elevata, qualche giorno fa sono riuscito, per la prima volta, a vincere uno dei premi disponibili, guadagnando ben...

... 27 SPS!

E sì, non è chissà quale premio, ma si tratta pur sempre di quasi 1 dollaro ottenuto per aver semplicemente giocato qualche partita: se uno avesse la capacità di vincere con maggior frequenza e di partecipare a tornei ancora più prestigiosi, questo numero salirebbe molto velocemente!

Il premio è infatti relativo ad un torneo di **livello Bronzo**, per cui uno dei più bassi: la mia collezione purtroppo non mi consente di fare più di così, ma ci sono giocatori che, in parte sfruttando anche il renting, ottengono risultati eccezionali!

Due giocatori, in particolare, che vi consiglio di seguire sono @mango-juice e @zaku: entrambi sono molto attivi nei tornei e conquistano numerose vittorie e premi, riuscendo a guadagnare cifre ben più interessanti della mia, dimostrando le grandi potenzialità di questa modalità.

Il mio consiglio è perciò quello di sfruttare la presenza in questo momento di tanti tornei gratuiti per prendere dimestichezza con questa modalità, così da aggiungere un altro tassello al proprio curriculum di giocatore di Splinterlands :)
