# SPANISH

Hace poco que fueron Los Oscars y si hay alguna categoría que me importe tanto como la de mejor película, es la de mejor película animada. Sin la posibilidad de ver el niño y la garza aun, mi favorita es spiderverse, pero con el revuelo que se está armando por Robot Dreams en los últimos días, era casi obligatorio para mí que tenía que ver la película pronto. Hoy, aprovechando que no tenía mucho que hacer, decidí buscar dónde la podía ver y adentrarme en esa aventura de película que es tan dura como hermosa y que, sin duda alguna, tal vez no gane como mejor película animada del año, pero será recordada como una película de culto y un clásico instantáneo en unos años.

Robot Dreams es una película que nos sitúa en una nueva york ochentera y que nos pone en los zapatos de Dog (si, así se llama) un perro que solitario, al ver una publicidad sobre un robot que puede ser tu amigo, decide comprar a Robot y tras un corto periodo de tiempo se vuelven amigos entrañables. Un día en la playa, Robot por alguna razón no puede moverse y Dog ni usando todas sus fuerzas puede cargarlo, así que deciden entre los dos, que Dog se vaya a su casa a descansar y que al siguiente día vaya a sacarlo de esa playa de cualquier forma.

No puedo contar mucho más de esa pequeña sinopsis porque si no contaría como spoiler, aunque lo que ya conté abarca alrededor de los primeros quince minutos de una película cortita de menos de dos horas. Sin embargo, a partir de este punto, la historia de adentra en un estudio del perdón, el olvido, la amistad, la reconciliación, la belleza de la vida, la ansiedad del esperar y de no tener un futuro seguro y un final redondo que concluye todo de forma tan hermosa como humana.

Al empezar a verla no sabía que la película no tiene dialogo, y no sé si descubrir eso es parte de la experiencia (entonces lo siento al decirlo), pero creo que es importante decir una que otra cosa al recomendar una película como esta porque, y en serio lo digo, es una película que fácilmente quisiera verla con mi hijo o mi sobrino, ya que la animación es demasiado fluida, el estilo de dibujo es precioso y muy family friendly, y las enseñanzas que deja son importantes en cada una de las etapas de la vida.

Robot Dreams además tiene un soundtrack increíble y referencias que te van a emocionar como cinéfilo, planos que son preciosos y sumamente bien pensados, un montaje increíble y un storytelling de aplaudir para cualquier estudiante de cine,  y si no eres cinéfilo, es una película hermosa que seguramente sacará lo mejor de ti, haciéndote recordar a todas tus amistades y además, haciéndote pensar que todas las personas que te hacen falta por conocer, todas las experiencias que te faltan por vivir.

# ENGLISH

The Oscars were a while ago and if there's any category I care about as much as Best Picture, it's Best Animated Feature. Without the possibility of seeing the boy and the heron yet, my favorite is spiderverse, but with the hype that is being created by Robot Dreams in the last few days, it was almost mandatory for me that I had to see the movie soon. Today, taking advantage of the fact that I didn't have much to do, I decided to look up where I could see it and get into this adventure of a movie that is as tough as it is beautiful and that, without a doubt, may not win as best animated movie of the year, but it will be remembered as a cult movie and an instant classic in a few years.


Robot Dreams is a movie that places us in a new york eighties and that puts us in the shoes of Dog (yes, that's his name) a lonely dog, when he sees an advertisement about a robot that can be your friend, decides to buy Robot and after a short period of time they become close friends. One day at the beach, Robot for some reason can't move and Dog can't even carry him using all his strength, so they decide between the two of them, that Dog should go home to rest and the next day he will get him out of the beach in any way he can.


I can't tell much more of that little synopsis or it would count as a spoiler, although what I've already told you covers about the first fifteen minutes of a short film of less than two hours. However, from this point on, the story goes into a study of forgiveness, forgetting, friendship, reconciliation, the beauty of life, the anxiety of waiting and not having a secure future and a round ending that concludes everything in a way that is as beautiful as it is human.

I didn't know when I started watching it that the movie has no dialogue, and I don't know if discovering that is part of the experience (so I'm sorry to say), but I think it's important to say one thing or another when recommending a movie like this because, and I mean it, it's a movie that I would easily want to watch with my son or nephew, as the animation is too fluid, the drawing style is beautiful and very family friendly, and the lessons it teaches are important in every stage of life.

Robot Dreams also has an incredible soundtrack and references that will thrill you as a film buff, shots that are beautiful and extremely well thought out, an incredible editing and a storytelling to applaud for any film student, and if you are not a film buff, it is a beautiful film that will surely bring out the best in you, making you remember all your friends and also, making you think about all the people you have yet to meet, all the experiences you have yet to live.
