## Ancient coastal towers - two new watercolors
<hr>

Hello everyone dear friends and welcome back to my blog. I can finally share two seascape subjects that I finished today. I find it very exciting to paint seascapes, and if I combine them with architecture then the satisfaction is maximum.

Today I share two ancient coastal towers, one in <b>Puglia</b> and the other in <b>Lazio</b>.

The first is called <b>Torre Colimena</b>, it is located in <b>Manduria</b> in Puglia.

It is on the mainland, and is part of a defensive system of coastal towers built by Emperor Charles V, King of Spain. The king had a series of watchtowers built after the invasion of Otranto by the Turks in 1480, to defend the Salento area from their frequent raids. So this beautiful tower was built around the end of the 1400s.

In the watercolor I wanted to represent the tower seen in the distance, to give importance to the sea that breaks on the rocks in the foreground. As you can see, the watercolor is almost a quick sketch that comes from the sheet, without limiting the color on the sides.

The second tower is my favorite, <b>Torre Paola</b>, a few kilometers from my house, it was built in 1500 for the same reason as the previous tower.

I will have portrayed this architectural masterpiece at least ten times, and each time it gives me different sensations and emotions.

Today I portrayed her very modern, with a few brush strokes and bright colors.

## Antiche torri costiere - due nuovi acquarelli

Ciao a tutti cari amici e ben tornati sul mio blog. Finalmente posso condividere due soggetti di paesaggi marini che ho terminato oggi. Trovo molto eccitante dipingere i paesaggi marini, e se li unisco alle architetture allora la soddisfazione è massima.

Oggi condivido due antiche torri costiere, una in Puglia e l'altra nel Lazio.

La prima si chiama Torre Colimena, si trova a Manduria in Puglia.  Essa è sulla terraferma, e fa parte di un sistema difensivo di torri costiere fatte costruire dall'imperatore Carlo V, re di Spagna. Il re fece costruire una serie di torri di avvistamento dopo l'invasione di Otranto da parte dei Turchi nel 1480, per difendere la zona del Salento dalle loro frequenti incursioni.

Quindi questa bellissima torre è stata edificata intorno alla fine del 1400. Nell'acquarello ho voluto rappresentare la torre vista in lontananza, per dare importanza al mare che si infrange sugli scogli in primo piano. Come vedete l'acquarello è quasi uno schizzo rapido che nasce dal foglio, senza limitarne il colore ai lati.

La seconda torre è la mia preferita, Torre Paola, a pochi chilometri da casa mia, essa fu edificata nel 1500 per lo stesso motivo della precedente torre. Questo capolavoro di architettura l'avrò ritratta almeno dieci volte, ed ogni volta mi da delle sensazioni ed emozioni differenti.

Oggi l'ho ritratta molto moderna, con pochi tratti di pennello e colori vivaci. 

Spero che i miei due acquarelli vi siano piaciuti.
