Stellar will once again distribute 16 billion coins on June 27th. If you are following me and if you can remember on one of my blog post,an update to [ my one month journey here inside Steemit ]( https://steemit.com/steemit/@arnel/after-a-month-with-steemit-my-progress-report ). I mentioned on this particular post that part of the small amount I used to purchase some Steem Power is coming from free Lumens (300 to be exact). That Lumens are what I received from Stellar.org when I just signed up to receive email updates from their site. 

What I am trying to illustrate here is that receiving Lumens or Stellar coins is something that has real value. You can exchange it using any popular exchange platform like Poloniex or Bittrex and you can have any other cryptocurrency of your choice be it Bitcoin or any other for that.

Now that I established that fact, it is worthy to note that this time Stellar is scheduled once again to distribute free Lumens through their Bitcoin Lumen program. Below are the dead easy steps you need to do to claim these FREE Lumens or Stellar coins:

On June 27th Stellar will post a link to the claim page on their [ blog ]( https://www.stellar.org/blog/bitcoin-claim-lumens-2/ ), [ Twitter ]( https://twitter.com/StellarOrg ), and [ Slack ]( https://stellar.slack.com/ ) channel. If you have signed up with them, they will also send you a reminder email with the link letting you know that the program has launched. 

**Once you are on the claim page here are the steps:** 
1. Authenticate yourself using Facebook. 
2. Enter your Stellar public key or generate a new one. 
3. Enter your Bitcoin address. For P2SH (multisig) addresses, you will be asked for a redeem script. 
4. Sign a displayed message. For P2PKH (normal bitcoin address) only one signature is required. For P2SH (multisig) addresses you need to provide as many signatures as required to release the funds from a P2SH address.

If your Bitcoin are on a participating exchange, there is no further action you need to take they will handle the process of crediting your account with the corresponding amount of Lumens. Here are the partial list of participating exchanges at the time of this writing. Stellar continues to update this list as exchanges are communicating with them.

**How to claim Lumens as XRP holders:** 
To be eligible to claim as an XRP holder, you need to have held XRP when we took the snapshot on May 22nd, 2014. To claim as an XRP holder, you’ll follow these steps:

1. Authenticate with Facebook.

2. Enter your Stellar public key or generate a new one.

3. Send a small amount of XRP (even 1 drop is OK) to the provided Ripple address with a displayed destination tag. Please note that they will not be able to send your XRP back!

4. After receiving a payment to the provided Ripple address, lumens will be sent to your Stellar account.
