TECHNIQUE
In general, the making of coconut shell charcoal through 2 (two) ways are:
A. Using the Burning Hole.
B. Using a used drum as a kiln.

Using the Burning Hole.

Ways of making:
1. Prepare a dry coconut shell.
2. Make a hole in dry soil with a depth of 1 - 2 meters and length 75 - 100 cm and width of 75 - 100 cm.
3. At the bottom of the hole used bricks as the base of the hole for long-lasting fire.
4. At the base of the pit of dry wood, then burn it.
5. After a large fire enter the coconut shell (coconut shell) that has been cleaned from the coir approximately ¼ part of the hole.
6. If the coconut shell has burned all, then enter the shell again ¼ part and so on until full.
7. After all the shell is burnt, the surface of the quick hole is covered with wood, banana or quarry.

Using the Used Drum

1. Prepare a drum that has been hollowed the bottom of the hole as much as 8 pieces of holes.
2. Arrange the coconut shell into the drum approximately ¼ part.
3. Then the charcoal is burned until it burns.

QUALITY
• In 5 kg of shell to 1 kg of shell charcoal
• 1 Kg shell comes from 4 - 5 coconut or 5-6 grain depending on size.

Close the air hole down and open the middle air hole. Now turn the raw material in the center of the burn. Repeat this procedure until the upper air opening opening for burning the raw material at the top.
5. The finished process is complete when the smoke from the chimney is not dense and bluish in color. Usually lasts 6-7 hours depending on the water content of the shell and the strength of the weakness of the wind. Close all air holes and chimneys.
6. For cooling, the drum must be in a vacuum. Otherwise, charcoal becomes ash as the fire continues to work. Use soil or sand as a cover at the top. Let stand for 6 hours.

Remove the charcoal from the drum. Clean the charcoal from the ash and the charcoal is not perfectly ripe. The ripe charcoal looks shiny black glow when broken. charcoal can also be bolted as a tattoo material.
