LEMON DIGITAL PAINTING

Digital painting is a skill I admire and I have been beating around to make some digital paintings.
Today, I am sharing my recently finished painting of a lemon done with autodesk sketchbook. To be honest I had some doubts before I could approach this digital painting, from procrastinations and only fixing myself with digital drawings only.
This work here was like a challenge, me telling myself to get to work even if it doesn't come out nice but let it just be my first registered digital painting. I took it up and here we are... Hurrayy 🎉

The progress shots below will take you through the creative process of this lemon painting.

On this first image, I mapped out the fruit, lots of broken lines because I didn't actually know where to start.

After the untidy outlining, I picked a paint brush and started painting over some area and it was slow so I went for the filling tool.. after filling with colour, I wanted to work more.

On this stage, I found the blend brush and I was virtually using it every second! I blended everything and it looked nice.. I created another layer and filled it, I used it as the background.
At this stage now, the work wasn't enticing again, was looking like a clip art something. I need to start playing around the background to balance everything and give this fruit a base.

It was now becoming nice but was still using the blending tool which I couldn't resist.
I wanted my painting to have this painterly feeling but it wasnt coming my way so I just had to ride with what I was getting.

FINAL ROUND, I THREW IN SOME LITTLE LIGHT IN THE BACKGROUND, I REALLY TRIED TO ADD TEXTURE ON THE SLICED LEMON BUT THAT'S ALL I COULD DO.

I used Autodesk sketchbook to achieve this.
I am beginning to feel that it is not really the software but the hand behind it. All the same I should really try out the clip studio paint because of some features.
