My Favorite Ceramic Work

Hello all... this is a ceramic pot from one of my school works. I did this with a mate as we were all shared into groups.
We used the coil method to get it completed to this stage, you can also use other methods like pinching and throwing.

We started off by making the sketch of this pot on paper, seived out our clay, allowed the clay to ferment for a period of two to three days ( it's a school work so we don't all that time for fermentation). The fermentation gives the clay some properties of plasticity and malleability.
We didn't just coil up to this stage in one day. Ceramics, after being worked on for the day, a nylon is used to cover the whole work properly to avoid the atmosphere from drying it up and it also helps the works to remain on workable stage and also create room for aging. I didn't major into ceramics but I sure can remember some things and possibly using the right terminologies lolzz

When you have worked to this stage, you engrave your designs or symbols and finalize with burnishing which helps the work to be smooth and shiny!

This was done with my Fine Art mate (Patricia) in our year two (2018). She later majored in graphics while I majored in painting.
It was a fun experience!!
