<center>**Hello friends,**
I don’t know why, me and my husband were tired on Saturday and Sunday. So I told him last night that we have to go to the beach on Labor Day. Not that I celebrate every possible holiday, but I thought, well if the government/work gives us one extra day off, then we have to make sure we spend it right.
As you can see according to the pictures here, we had a great time. I texted to our friends, well technically they are more our kids friends parents, but anyway, they couldn’t make it (I guess they already had enough activities in two previous days:-)
So we went on our own. My youngest didn’t want to go, she said she wants to stay home. So I have to admit, I promised her some iPad time later.
Well, everyone enjoyed this morning including those who didn’t want to go. There was some seaweed, but with a clear warm water it didn’t bother us at all.
There was a lot of fish swimming around. One big fish even touched my arm and scared me, it right after me touched another person that screamed at first and then started laughing after realizing it was just a happy fish. We also saw a huge jellyfish, but I didn’t have me camera in the water.
After the beach time kids met their friends on the way home, so they had another thirty minute break of play time. It’s so great to see kids playing together happily and having great time together.
While kids were playing I arranged with their parents a playdate for the kids. I offered a free art class, because my youngest likes doing art, and I teach art. I thought it’s a nice way of socializing for kids.
Now I need to think of what theme they would enjoy working on. I already found a few ideas online, but need to make an example of the work that they’ll be doing.
Later today I took my oldest kid to the nearest park to ride his bike and met another friend with a kid. It’s kind of nice to keep seeing parents that I know, with whom we can chat and plan playdates.
The reason I got so excited about the playdates is that my kid has a social anxiety, that we are working on. It’s pretty rare condition, but in most situations with a right professional it’s fixable. The therapy is very expensive and I don’t know what we’ll be doing after our sessions with our therapist will be over. Financially it’s overwhelming and the insurance doesn’t cover it. So I’m trying now to get more playdates to help my kid socialize with her schoolmates at our home, where it’s more comfortable. We already went to a special summer camp this summer, and it’s kind of helped some, and they gave us a lot of tips how to continue working. But it’s not that easy as they explain, and different kids have different level of anxiety.
So, finger crossed, I hope all our hard parenting work, arranging playdates for our precious kids will get one day rewarded with a happy, smiling, and chatty kid. Because I know her real personality when she’s home. It’s a happy kid who loves to play and giggle, and I want her classmates to know their real funny friend, because right now they all think that she is a quiet and non-verbal kid, that doesn’t want to play. So I will help them to see how friendly and happy she really is. I really hope it will help her to get more friends who can accept her and who will learn how people can be different from each other and yet find some common interests and become close friends for years.
