Mutual Fund is like the goto option when it comes to Beginner Investing and most newbies in the Market tend to go towards them at the beginning of their Investment Portfolio as did I. So it is very critical that you get to know some things that you need to be careful about when it comes to Mutual Fund Investing.


#### Avoid Regular Plans

When it comes to Mutual Funds there are usually two types of Plans for any given Mutual Fund one is a Regular one and the other is a Direct Plan. Both of them yield the same Returns but there is a slight catch. Regular Mutual Funds have an extra 1 percent fess that is added to the Expense Ratio which eats up your Profit in the long run so it is definitely better to just go with the Direct Plan as in the long run this will most definitely be a benefit for you.


#### Take Risks According to Your Age

This is something that is not a Rule per see but I like to adhere to this one. It goes like this, I am 30 Years Old so I feel like my Risk-taking Appetite is more than my Dad who is double my age so I will be more likely to go towards Equity Mutual Funds rather than Debt or Index Mutual Funds. Vice Versa my Dad since he is over 60 should be considering Wealth Preservation rather than Returns so he should go for Debt or Index Mutual Funds.


#### Check the Expense Ratios

Most of the time new Investors rarely check the Expense Ratio of any given Mutual Fund and Invest in them solely on their Returns which is something a new Investor should always check for as there are similar Mutual Funds that give out different Expense Ratios but are close to the same Returns so choosing a lower-Expense Ratio will help you out in Future.
