There probably will be more features added. I have raised my hand to help in some way, my own project https://steemit.com/steemportal/@l0k1/steemportal-app-framework-for-selectable-interface-frontends-stubs-now-completed now has the beginnings for specialists in other interfaces to join my project, and as you can find on the roadmap, I have ideas for additions, the groups and chat system, but if the devs are building something already, this will be what it interfaces with when my app gets to the 0.3 milestone. I think it is fair to say that there is a gathering of interested developers now happening to contribute their work to implement these new features. I have been prosetylising for utilising the steem blockchain platform to help guide development more and make it more open and participative. Based on the success of the open source collaboration model up to this point, and the fact that even steem has this feature (anyone can become a steem shareholder), I think this will help accelerate development and ensure that Steem stays one step ahead of the rest of the fragmented efforts by other platforms that are in the pipes but still some time from even a beta release.
