Over the past few years, I periodically publish the so-called house-building diary where I talk about some aspects of building my house.

Today I would like to make a small summary specifically for the [RenovationDIY](https://peakd.com/c/hive-138317/created) community.

It all started back in 2015. Then my wife and I bought a small piece of land overgrown with weeds.

It's funny, but at that time I had no building skills at all. For many years I worked as an IT engineer, was engaged in programming and repairing all kinds of hardware, but I did not have the skills to work with saws, axes and other construction tools.

I did not even hold the trimmer in my hands. Nevertheless, we figured out our wishlist, drew a plan and began to build. Due to some budget constraints, we did everything ourselves and used inexpensive materials. Of course, now I would have done everything differently, but that is, that is.

So, first we rolled the pile foundation. Piles filled with concrete.

Installed the base frame

Made the whole roofing system.

Sheathed walls with osb and tiled roof

Next, I made diy windows and install the door.

I dug a trench and laid 100 meters of electric cable.

Made electrical wiring around the house.

Conducted plumbing and sewer

I sewed part of the walls and ceiling with drywall. Together with my wife, installed a large window

And began to sew up the facade with home-made plywood shingles.

After 5 years, everything is almost ready. There is still a bit left and I can finally move to my own home.

The construction budget for 5 years amounted to about 10 thousand dollars, including the cost of buying land. 

Over the years, I have mastered a bunch of professions. Now I am both a carpenter and a roofer, a plumber and an electrician, and a chainsaw is generally my best friend :)
