Over the last week, a video of TV host, rapper, and actor Nick Cannon spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories and praising virulent antisemite Louis Farrakhan resurfaced. On his podcast “Cannon’s Classes” he spoke with Professor Griff, a rapper from the famed group Public Enemy, who was recently ousted from the rap group due to his anti-semitism. In the podcast, Griff said that the semitic people and the semitic languages “have absolutely nothing to do with any white people.” Cannon claimed that when people understand who the real Jewish people are, “it’s never hate speech, you can’t be antisemitic when we are the semitic people. When we are the same people who they want to be. That’s our birthright.” He later added that “we are the true Hebrews.” Griff and Cannon agreed that the term “antisemitic” is used to divide people and “neutralize” criticism.

I honestly do not see the point in claiming ownership of Semitic language and culture when your racial group has not either spoken the language or practiced the culture.
I do not see how becoming Semitic/Jewish will help blacks in any way. I do not see how demoting traditional Jews from their cultural position can be either viable or profitable. Will African-Americans partake of that transformation?
Celebrities keep pooping all over every time they have a mic and an audience. They should understand that unless they have studied a given subject thoroughly, they should avoid making this kind of stupid comments, to then sound even more stupid when they take it back. They never mean offense; so what exactly do they mean?
True blacks have historically, since they got in (forced) contact with Christianity seen themselves as a mirror image of the Jews. It has been the history of the Jews’ uprooting and slavery what gave blacks the hope that their cause, like that of the Jews would be heard, rewarded, redeemed. But to draw anything different from that is plain idiotic at this point and given the current state of things race/religious wise.

General hatred of any cultural or racial group is bound to be wrong. Trying to claim heritage going back thousands of years is spurious too. It should be about what people actually do now. We cannot be responsible for our ancestors, but we can try to make amends for what they did. The last thing we need is more people sowing division.
