One day, I was going to a visit a friend who had recently returned to town. She lived several meters away so I had to take a rather long Uber ride to get the the apartment she had booked.


On my way there I met this little girl at a turn where there was a little traffic. We see people like this every day and we hardly ever notice them, i don’t even look at them especially when I have no money on me to give to avoid the incessant begging. 
Hear me out, I personally think there’s something irritating about begging, about asking repeatedly when you’re getting a no or being ignored. I find it unsettling when people do it to me on a personal level. I feel bad when I see persons begging on the road and try to imagine what their story is and wish they had life differently. But, existing in an environment that weaponizes situations like that, weaponizing suffering as a tool for psychological manipulation; it’s so sad.


I give when I can but there exists this rumor that they often do negative things with the monies they’ve received. I’ve often heard people say that beggars sell money to rich men and they use it to collect people’s destinies and lucks. I think about it most times when I want to give and I do it anyway. 
My camera was out to take a few selfies when this little girl walk to the car, she waved at me and I waved back, then she smiled. I continued taking my pictures then I moved the camera position to include her, 


I looked at her with the would you like to eyes and she nodded. She quickly got into her pose mood with her head tilts and the peace sign.  She was a lovely girl. I wound down to show her the pictures and she was so excited. 
I asked her if I should delete them and she said No. 

‘I fit post am?’
She nodded. 
I checked my purse, gave her some money and told her she was beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️
This happened on 12th March, 2022.

Aww it’s her excitement for me. 
I honestly don’t blame you on the part about the narrative of beggars using the money you give them for negative things, I’ve also heard stories and it’s mad scary. 
This has made us stereotype them all to be like that but it’s nice you gave the little girl a chance and even took a selfie with her, I’m sure she won’t ever forget that moment. 🤗
