<i> **My history with tobacco goes back to my early years, my great-grandmother, my grandmother and my mother, all of them compulsive smokers, all found in the cigarette a good friend who gave them peace.**</i>

Si la persona toma medicina, ¿no debería cuidar su cuerpo?</i></center>

El abuelo Rufino nos habla de cómo él, siempre pone algunas bendiciones más a su canto... una para la comida; que de las cosas que siempre escuché decir allá, la comida es la principal causa de enfermedades en nosotros los “sabararies”.

Cuando entendí esto, vi un panorama más amplio de lo que significa un vició y al mismo tiempo me fui dando cuenta de algunas cosas que aquí en la ciudad, no se ven.</i>

**Piaroa tobacco is the preparation of tobacco leaves wrapped in [Heliconia bihai leaves](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heliconia_bihai).**

**The tobacco is harvested and dried under natural processes, then these leaves are stretched and stored for later use, on the other hand, the banana leaves are cut, put for two days and two nights to dry while receiving moonlight and sunshine.**

**This tobacco represents a greeting for the piaroas, when they arrive at a visiting churuata, a tobacco is shared as a symbol of welcome.**

**During the Ñua ceremonies, the tobacco represents the union between those present, thus being an important part of the ritual.**
