# Trouble is coming (mainly just for me). - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 7 Report Card

Hi everyone!

So, this is last season's report card.  I wanted to get it on the books before this current season ends (in 1 day and 16 hours)..... because, I'm expecting that big trouble is coming for AussieNinjas.

I have been pretty excited about Riftwatchers.  Check out these amazing cards:

There are so many cards I'm really pumped for... but my stupid long-term strategy is going to hurt me in the short-term.

My long term strategy is to buy Riftwatchers packs with my DEC and SPS (that I get from the LPs)... as much as I can before they sell out.

I won't be opening any of the Gem packs, so I won't be getting access to any of these amazing cards anytime soon.

After the packs entirely sell out... and players have opened all their packs to maximize their airdropped cards, then I'll be looking to spend my DEC and SPS on the cards that I really like... keeping my packs unopened.

Finally, eventually, once the Riftwatchers packs are selling for $10 on the Hive Engine, then I'll sell my packs, convert to DEC and buy all the cards I need.

It's a long term plan that is rough.
It's rough because the SPS rewards per game are so good right now... and the more that everyone else is leveling up their collections, the lower down the leagues I'll go and the less SPS I'll win per game.  It's also not quite as exciting as playing these new cards when everyone else is working out the best strategies for them.  I'm definitely going to be nervous going into 99 Mana battles from now on...

My performance was not my favourite.
I could not break into Champs III even though I tried real hard.  I did about the same as I did in Season 6... so potentially Diamond I is my ceiling until I start getting new cards.

I'm happy with my Win/Loss ratio though... I thought it was going to be way worse.

I got 25 cards [last season](https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@aussieninja/splinterstats-season-80-report-card) but they were worth 3885 DEC as opposed to my 39 cards worth 865 DEC.  

I'm not sure if that's just the luck of the draw, or the changes that have gone into the various proposals that makes the Champs III league and above so much more mighty.  I'll have to compare with next season (the main reason I'm doing this report now).

You can see the different already with the changes...  last season I got 117 Ranked Play Wins with 🟣 1611 + ⭐151.924... and now DEC has been removed and I got 117 Ranked Play Wins with 🟣 0 + ⭐160.583.

One thing that I totally understand, but don't love, is that in the Modern league I'm below Bronze, because I haven't touched it in ages.  The beauty of this game is that card choices end up being really different in the different leagues, so I literally lost 3 games in a row despite having maxed cards. I just don't know how to play that league.  I'm just not going to put any time into it until I can add to my collection.

I really super hope my patience pays off with my unopened Chaos Legion and Riftwatchers packs.  I'm forgoing SPS, EoS rewards and tournaments to try and profit later and buy better cards for cheaper.  I have no idea if it will pay off.

Wooooow that is a lot of data bruu.  Uhm regarding the strategy. I dont think it should all be investment you also need the fun in there. Im gonna go half half on rift and tower I think as I *Love* the riftwatchers cards as well and opened some packs today. 

But forcing to buy half-half *and* also open some packs for the fun of it. You neeeed the fun!

I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed the fun!

I did forget to mention that I did buy some Tower Defense packs as well.  I currently have more TD packs than RW packs, but I think I'm going to concentrate more on RW packs from now on.

Opening packs is pretty amazingly fun... but the thing I worry about is:

1.) Most likely, the resale price for the cards you get won't be priced anywhere near the $5 pack cost.
2.) If I sell the packs for DEC I could concentrate on maxing out the cards I want, instead of getting random cards.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuut, where is the fun in any of that?  You might be totally right.  I might need to stop thinking so much about it.

No... it's maybe at 80%. It doesn't affect my life daily like it used to, so that's massive progress... but it flares up if I try and do any sort of exercise involving weights or pull ups or anything like that... so still a ways to go I think...

It's been well over a year now.  I never would have guessed it would take this long to heal.

Interesting strategy. I like the idea but for me I don't think I have enough resources to sit on any card packs, though I am sitting on one pack now as I didn't realise you can't open them yet !LOL.
Am I understanding it right that they have brought out these new card packs before the choas ones have sold out?

Yeah, I'm not sure I necessarily have the resources either... I'm going to have to keep track of how much I end up sliding backwards to see if this is a bad strategy.

You are correct, but there is nuance to these pack editions.

The Chaos Legion pack edition is a full edition. You should be able to be competitive using only cards from CL. The money that is spent buying Chaos Legion packs goes directly to the Splinterlands Inc company to pay for development, server costs, marketing, etc.

The Riftwatchers pack edition is a mini-edition (it's designed to compliment CL, you couldn't win many games using only RW cards) and the money spent buying these packs does not go the Splinterlands Inc company. Instead it is designed to burn up vouchers and sent SPS to the Splinterlands DAO.  38,867,428 SPS to DAO from Riftwatchers sale so far. 

Once the DAO has a bunch of SPS, the community will be able to vote on proposals on how to spend that SPS.  They could choose to burn it, spend it on marketing, spend it on anything else, make it into prizes, etc etc. It's essentially the community's money.  So Splinterlands Inc put effort into designing and implementing Riftwatchers but didn't make anything from it apart from the good will of the community.  It's pretty amazing.
