Thanks for this post, that was very interesting reading you from a different perspective.

Maybe a little bit of everything. Or just the need to be doing something. Or there is something about the work that you do enjoy a lot, and if it wasn't for the job, you wouldn't do it.

My brother once wanted to get out of the job. He went to the owner, and told him that he wanted double the payment he was getting. Ironically, they immediately agreed. It was a big boost for his self-esteem. He worked for a little longer, then quit and built is own, quite successful business. Now he wants out of that, too. Which I can relate to.

I tried many times to get rid of the bakery. I was able to sell the restaurant - yet I still live above it, I still pick up trash, I still care about it. Not only because the new owner was my right hand in the business for a long time, and is a good friend, but because it's something I built. 

It's hard to get out. To leave it all behind, after such a long time. Like a relationship that has grown cold, but there's that habit, it's comfortable to not change it. 

I got to see Buddy Guy a few months ago in concert on his farewell tour.  It was so good and he had so many amazing stories to tell.  I'm more into Jazz music than Blues usually, but I have been listening to a bit of Tinsley Ellis lately.  Great stuff!

I don't think I have ever watched a cricket throw up close like that before, but it was really fascinating to see how he winds up his arms before releasing the ball.

He certainly has the voice for it! I have never heard of them before either. Not bad though! I like YouTube's algo too. It actually seems to have an idea of what I like unlike other ones that serve me up the same tired old muck

That is sad. I can relate that I practically never worked anywhere else for real except short consulting gig at Fujitsu Consulting which I left after less than five years to my current job where I have been for like 25 years. I am also now financially free, but I would not quit. One is I like my job and also afraid of unknown and things like health insurance. 

My wife retired from her high power executive career, but she also cannot not work so she started a new business that is her calling: executive coaching or something like that, she has a better name for it. 

It is sad when people who are doing excellent job get cut.

Can't really comment about the work layoffs because I haven't experienced it myself.
Although maybe you are feeling some kind of pity to those who've lost their jobs and the fact they've kept you so long is proof that your impact to the company is undeniable.

Sacking these people for no reason other than not required?

Do they get some type of VR? Here it’s hard to sack employees without compensation.

I'm sure I've heard that song before, but it is good. He has a great voice for blues. As a white British guy I got into blues in my teens through people like Clapton and Page who did the same in their youth. It does seem strange that people from such a different culture would pick up on it, but those guys helped to get the music out there and get appreciation for the black musicians who created it.

That Garry B.B. Coleman track is really hitting me.

I am not surprised that the extractive industries are being shaken up these days. The world is changing and needs to. It seems the next race is for the rare earth stuff we need for the new technology. That will have its own consequences. I hope you can keep finding work.

So many sucky times at the moment in the employment markets. People losing their jobs because they can be got rid of, not because they are bad at their job. It is hard out there to find something new also - at least for me. 

At least there is BB King to listen to.
