I converted this headboard into a hutch for one of my desks by moving a couple of the wood pieces and bracing the frame. It is an exact fit to the sixteenth of an inch. 

Repurposing things and modifying items or their uses has always been a part of my life.  

I despise consumerism and wasteful practices.

I found this for VERY cheap, it was something like $7 at a thrift store, and it was in perfect condition.  

I'd been keeping my eyes open for a hutch for one of my desks for a LONG time, and had the width of what I needed memorized.   This fit the bill perfectly!

Some people's brains are just wired to look at things and see it for not what it IS but what it CAN be.  

I am not the best at that -- but I am trying to learn and re-wire my brain for things like this.

I moved the back piecing of the wood around, put some L brackets on the bottom one you see which used to be up top (you can see the holes lined up  on the corners where it used to be) --  added a couple screws for good measure for more stability and voila.  

Done deal.

I lead a very very low impact lifestyle as far as buying anything goes.

Thanks  man, it is nice hearing from you.  I believe that because I spent A LOT of time since 2008 with someone who has a mechanical mind, for various things -- that has actually helped.   

- he talks ALLLL the time and lectures me a lot which is super annoying but I am pretty balanced - he is gifted in areas I am not and vice versa but I am certain that has helped my brain rewire a little bit constantly being subjected to his ..........lessons
