Sometimes, traveling in time and space can seem boring. Imagine for a moment that you, as a time traveler, find yourself in 2020, in any country on our planet. I am sure you would have found this time very boring and depressing. Thus, a postage stamp looks boring, on which, simply, in a circle, there is a figure "30" and several inscriptions, which, due to the strange font, are difficult to read. But, if you dig deeper, you can plunge into the events of the beginning of the last century, which filled Europe at the beginning of the last century. This is not a postage stamp. This is Postage Due Deutschösterreich. And, as you can see, it does not have a serrated border, as on ordinary postage stamps. A convenient means of communication between small, government offices that did not have cash and ministries. Also, you could send a letter, even when your pocket is empty. The recipient will pay for this letter. The monetary unit, Heller, was the currency of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which was led by the Kaiser of Austria and King of Hungary Charles I of Habsburg. But, not everything is so simple. This Postage Due Deutschösterreich, issued in 1920, 2 years have passed since the time when the Kaiser of Austria and the King of Hungary, Charles I of Habsburg, abdicated the throne, but the monetary unit remained the same. The collapse of the Russian Empire and revolutionary movements in Europe greatly undermined the monarchical system. In 1918, the Republic of German Austria was proclaimed. The transition period is a difficult time for those who are used to living in a monarchy, and vice versa. I can remember the 90s, the collapse of the USSR, when chaos reigned around. A small and transparent piece of paper gave me more knowledge about the history of Europe than history lessons at school. I have never been to Austria, but one of my friends lives there today. It is possible that his ancestors touched this Postage Due Deutschösterreich, or one of them put a stamp when sending the letter.
