If you are residing in countries like the USA, then you might have heard about REITs. Because more than 80 million Americans have invested in REITs through their retirement savings plans or other types of investment funds. That’s why REITs are quite popular in the USA when compared with other countries in Europe / Asia. 

What is the significant feature of REITs? It helps the investors to get long-term stable returns instead of rapid short-term gains. You can get returns of up to 8% of your investment as dividends every year which cannot be guaranteed in other types of investment like mutual funds, stocks, shares etc.

Why do you need to invest in REITs? How does it provide a stable source of income for the investors? REITs are nothing but companies which either owns or provides financial support for various real estate properties that have the potential to generate income. 

For example, if a REIT based company owns a residential community, then it will be getting monthly rent from all the individual houses. And, it will be receiving this source of income continuously till the life of the building. REITs will give 90% of this generated income to the investors as a dividend. It won’t be paying any taxes to the government as it is the responsibility of the individual to calculate the taxes and pay that correctly.

REITs will allow any individual to make their investment in the real estate assets without the need to actually buy a residential or commercial property. Like investments in other industries, you can make investments in REITs through individual company stock or ETF (Exchange Traded Fund). As many of the REITs are listed on exchanges, the investors can directly buy the REIT shares from them.

The above-said information is related to a traditional REIT. Now, why can’t the cryptocurrencies be used to invest in real estate assets? If that happens, the investors will get a stable source of income from their crypto investments. That’s how exactly the Global REIT platform works. 

What is Global REIT? It is a fusion of the blockchain technology and the real estate industry.
