 Pleasant greetings everyone!


The #aprilinleo promots has been going on for a while and today I decided to participate after a long break. Today's topic is on recipe, family dishes and dining out. While I have little information concerning my family's recipes and special dishes since those usually came up on special occasions like Christmas, Easter or on birthdays and the dishes prepared then were mostly rice 🍚. Only on one occasion did my mum prepare my father's tribe favourite dish which was made of blended  cocoyam and water yam  popularly called *ikpankukwo*. Due to how tedious the process of making it is, I became disinterested in following up with the recipe.


Nevertheless, I remember one occasion where we broke protocol. I had just gone to check my waec results and I was happy with what I saw on the monitor screen. I printed out a copy and took it home to show to my dad on my successful outcome. After going through every detail to make sure it was authentically my result, my dad boomed in laughter, joy overflowing from his ambience like water from a spring. It was so contagious that almost immediately my siblings were beckoned on and told the good news. After a few minutes of shouting gleefully, my dad went ahead to declare that we would be eating out that day and that my mum shouldn't bother preparing dinner at home.

Like earnest citizens who just received a royal decree, my siblings and I began preparing to go out that evening. Ehen it was time, dad's car horn signalled to us to come out and thus the Sunday family strode out in pride to the car to the envy of our neighbours, hehe.

The restaurant we chose was located at Festac not too far from where we currently reside. It was a beautiful place with a lovely homey interior. My dad led us to a table and we sat down while watching him discuss the menu with mum. Finally, after what felt like forever, the food and drinks were served and we dug in after saying grace.

I thought that was all but my dad had something else up his sleeves. Smiling secretly he signalled to the waiter and in a few seconds there was a bottle of *Don simon sangria* on our table. My siblings were not allowed to have a taste but I sneakily maneuvered my way into getting a glass and wow, the red wine tasted ao deliciously fruity. After the whole merry making and dun dinner, it was finally time to head back home. 

My siblings and I discussed some funny moments that occurred back at the restaurant and laughing at the silliness of  orher customers which we caught. Upon arriving home, we all went to prep ourselves for bed. We went to bed with a broad smile on our faces after all it had been a pleasant day.
