The world would be a wonderful place if we all speak one language, however, since it is not possible now, we have to manage. For me, I am very inquisitive. Each time I see a post in a language I can't read, I copy it and paste in Google translate and read it. It's not too stressful for me especially if it has a nice image. I always want to know more about it.

As far as this action would bring diversity, I guess we have to understand everything by facial expression or through hands movement 😂 my mother language is Punjabi and I guess only my country fellows and indian fellows would understand haha. But my native language is urdu which is also spoke as Hindi in India and Bangladesh 😂
So English is much better for communication, I can also understand few German words which are written in English. @dreemport directed me here.

This is an interesting idea.  Everybody brings something new and different from their background and I wonder if we'd have the same diversity as we have now.  Most people don't understand each other even if they are speaking the same language 😀

As for your writings I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, they're easy to read.

These are often confusing to non-English speakers and might think I'm shooting someone or something haha.  These are fun because people may ask a question or make a joke.  The conversation starters are usually the hard part for many.

As far as this text goes, your English reads fine. Usually, I read German, because that's the language I need improvement in, after so many years in Germany still. Your English writing is a damn sight better than my German! So don't worry, you will never fully grasp a foreign language, and neither will anyone else. This privilege is reserved to young children and perhaps people with a talent for languages.

I can only recommend to you to read as much as you can in English. Literature, popular and classic, as many books and magazine articles as your time allows. It will also help to watch as many English language films / series / documentaries as possible, especially if you want to speak and not just write the language.

The big problem is, English is a very idiomatic language, and idioms vary depending on the world region the speaker is from: U.S.A., Australia, U.K., Carribean, etc., etc.... You can't translate idioms properly, you can only try to grasp when to use which one. That's why you feel you can't express yourself fully: because you don't know the proper idiom in English, or a German idiom doesn't translate in a meaningful way; and dictionaries / Deepl are very little help here.

Example:

"When it rains it pours!" (American)
Deepl: "Wenn es regnet, schuettet es!" (ziemlicher Unsinn)
Richtig: "Ein Unglueck kommt selten allein!"
Alternative: "Misery loves company!"

You have to know both idioms in both languages to get a good translation. Now add your local German dialect to that mix. Here in Saarland they say very drastically "Der Teufel schei..t immer auf einen Haufen!" which is a much stronger sentiment than the High German expression. Being a military brat, I would express that perhaps as "a regular clusterf.ck" - good luck running that trough Deepl...

Some comes down to sheer talent, though. My hubby, native German, speaks better English than I, after only 15 years in the U.S. - and not just American English, but also British. He soaks up stuff like a sponge and retains it. (He's also a reader.) Often I ask him "How do you spell that?" and he routinely has to translate British English (e.g. Cockney) into American for me, when we watch TV shows from the U.K.. I don't understand a word of what these Limeys are talking about :)

His grasp of language is a talent. I don't have it, so I'm not gonna worry about it. Neither should you. All you can do, is all you can do, and all you can do is enough.

I think deepL gives a better translation. I have tried it before and I've seen a lot of persons that testified to it.

I believe it wouldn't that be so difficult if everyone have the same mother tongue. That would have been better.. My thoughts though..

Ich stimme zu. 100% Ich wünschte, wir könnten alle unsere Muttersprache sprechen, aber dann könnten wir uns alle perfekt verstehen! Dies ist eigentlich einer der Wünsche, die ich an einen "genie" (no word for this in German language? hehe only "ghost"? LOL) richten würde. Damit ich alle Sprachen sprechen und verstehen kann. Was für eine Freude wäre das!

Hello @beeber. Wouldn't it make it a lot easier if everyone spoke the same language? But then, who gets to decide which language should be universal? If you ask me, I'd say "English".  Other nationalities may think differently. 

But then language, customs, ideas, traditions, personalities, and cultures are what make us unique. That way, we can share what is unknown to others.

Eine einzige Sprache wird es glaube nie geben, denn selbst in den eibzelnen Sprachen gibt es so viele dialekte. Wie soll sich eine Sprache da durchsetzen welt weit?

Schwierig, wobei es wohl so ist, dass viele Sprachen vom Aussterben bedroht sind, also wohl an die 1000 fir es bald wohl nicht mehr geben wird.

Und leider nein, selbst dann würden die Menschen sich nicht verstehen, es ist bis auf selten kein Sprachproblem, sondern der Mensch selber ist das Problem.

btw. wenn der text richtig toll sein soll, dann mach ich den translator swing... i fang a mit deutsch - english / dann den übersetzten englisch text zurück ins deutsch... eventuelle anpassungen damit das wirklich auf den punkt kommt. *meistens der fall* und so weiter und so fort, bis i zufrieden bin.

Well to me, I believe there is beauty in other native language than having same which could become uninteresting to keep reading. I think it's better when writers here too write in English and still translate them. @dreemport made me see this. 

Personally, I think your use of English is incredible. Honestly, you have nothing to worry about in terms of whether you are being misunderstood  🤗This is a really pertinent article you have written as I am sure there are a lot of people who feel as you do. When I reply to comments written to me in somebody's native language (non-English), I admit to simply using a translator but I always try. I think it's admirable that you review the translated work and attempt to improve on it before publication😍

Eine gemeinsame Sprache für alle ist eine sehr progressive Idee die das nationale Denken grosser Teile der Menschheit überwinden müsste. Vielleicht gibt es das tatsächlich irgendwann, aus heutiger Sicht ist es sicher sehr utopisch, aber eine Utopie die enormes Potential hat meiner Meinung.
Besonders in gesellschaftlichen Schichten die nichts oder wenig mit fremden Sprachen und Kulturen zu tun haben würde es vererbte Vorurteile nach und nach einreisen. Obwohl ich glaube das es sich bei all diesen Entwicklungen am Ende wieder um eine Zeitspanne dreht bei denen es um Generationen geht. Leider glaube ich das wir alle noch nicht einmal die Inangriffnahme solcher Ideen von offiziellen Seiten erleben werden.
Aber, man muss zu jedem Zeitpunkt darüber reden! und schreiben, irgendwann wird es doch etwas :)
