Away From Depression

There are periods in life when everything you do just doesn’t work out, you write an exam and it comes out terrible. Times when you feel you are not making any progress, going out isn’t exciting, you don’t feel like chatting, you don’t feel like hanging out, and nothing seems fun to you anymore. Phone on Do Not Disturb, times when you just wish the world should come to an end cause you’re tired and depressed.

Many people do not understand the whole mindset of when one is depressed, they feel you just say it without understanding it. Some say just come off it like it’s easy or something you feel for a day and it comes off. 

I think Depression is a phase, it just happens without you knowing, maybe sometimes it comes slowly and then takes over your full being. I have encountered that phase, and honestly, it took a while to feel better.

People say why not just come out, but then they don’t understand that you’re trying but it’s just not finding its way out. Most times I wonder why people abuse those who are depressed and have suicidal thoughts, but maybe it will be better if they just sat down and understand things better. 

In 2022, I was depressed for months, I would lay in bed all day, and if I was to stand up it was because I needed to use the restroom or get some food. There were days when I thought about so many things and would think my head would explode. I didn’t even feel the need to be on my phone as I couldn’t find anything interesting in my life at that point.
Sometimes I would lie down for hours and cry. I felt like I was not fine but then I couldn’t place what exactly was wrong with me. I found nothing funny or exciting. 

During this phase, I lost some friends, maybe they felt I didn’t want to reach out. 
I would spend my day trying to figure out what exactly was wrong with me. I had different thoughts of negativity and then my mom would say “Why are you always negative”. It was a difficult phase. I ignored people’s calls and wanted every day to come by faster.

I also tried self-meditation which was difficult but then I realized that one just needs to be stronger, you just need to find that inner peace. It doesn’t take a day to do it, it doesn’t take an hour to come off, and all you need are baby steps to find YOU. 
Maybe take a walk alone, read a book, watch your favorite series, talk to someone, find a fun skill (crocheting), or do anything at that point to boost your well-being. 

You could get over Depression. You just need to go through it and be fine. I am thankful for National Depression Day **October 5th** where Depression is diagnosed and pulled out from the dark.
A period where people are told more about Depression. Well, you don’t need to wait for that day to feel better, you could try to work on it yourself ☺️

Depression is actually a phase and when it takes over you it becomes severe and uncontrollable, lately, I have seen people committing suicide because they are depressed.

I despise depression mostly because when you are depressed and you don't have people around you the first thing that will pop into your mind is to kill yourself and that thought keeps coming and coming.

Thanks to God that you were able to go off it and let's endeavor to keep checking on friends and families passing through hard times.

Thank you for this wonderful thoughts you've shared. It is difficult fighting depression and there's usually a withdrawal. Once we identify anyone depressed, it's good to extend a hand of love and fellowship despite the resistance we may meet. Depression really kills

Depression is really hard to deal with sometimes.it just creeps in without you knowing and you might just lost your will to fight.

It can be difficult at times but you just need to get stronger to pull through.
