I am involved in the WAX blockchain since the pandemic started when I discovered this amazing and energetic ecosystem for NFTs. I consider it a hidden gem with a strong NFT infrastructure and I simply cannot understand how much is bypassed by big collectors and other participants in the market. But having a solid ecosystem, I am sure that at some point this blockchain will get under the spotlight and really shine. And while later I was not involved in new NFT launches, buying, trading, or airdrops, I gathered in time a good amount of WAXP tokens that were simply sitting in my wallet.

I have just decided to put my liquid WAX tokens at work through staking. Based on [Staking rewards](https://www.stakingrewards.com/earn/wax/), the APR for staking WAXP is currently standing at 4.55%. Considering that I have gathered 9,500+ WAX tokens that were just idling, I have decided to go and stake them in different percentages. Here is how I've split my holdings when staking them.
- 7,589.456 WAX staked as CPU resource
- 2,001.238 WAX staked as NET resource
- 254.520 WAXP left liquid for future NFT participations (buy, sell, trade etc.)

Having 9,590.694 WAX staked at 4.55% APR means 436.376 WAX earnings per year or 1.195 WAX per day.

**Staking** WAX tokens allow me to do several things besides making transactions, like voting for Guilds, Proxys, and of course, earning rewards. After I staked the tokens for both CPU or NET in a 4:1 ratio, I immediately gained access to these resources and was able to perform the aforementioned actions. It is important to cast the Vote for Guilds (at least 16 and up to 30) or use a proxy to do that, in order to ensure getting WAX rewards for staking them. After I voted, the vote strength was 100%, after which it will slowly start to decay to 0%. To reduce the impact of this vote decay, the recommendation is to vote at least once a week, in order to maintain a high vote strength.

What I like about WAX in comparison to HIVE for example is that the **Unstaking** takes just 72 hours, after which the funds will be back in the balance. This will allow anyone to benefit during bull runs and positive market movements as the unstaking period are quite short - 3 days compared to 13 weeks for example.

For staking, unstaking, and claiming rewards I have used the new and improved [WAX Blocks](https://wax.bloks.io/) which offers an impressive dashboard to handle all related wallet operations and not only.

This is another example of why we should size our portfolio to a reasonable number of assets that we can manage. Not only that we need to keep in touch and be informed on the new developments from each ecosystem, but there are also recurring actions that we need to do in order to manage the assets and put them at work. And for WAX cryptocurrency while I have staked them, I will still need to come and cast weekly my vote for the Guilds and/or use a Proxy to do that for me. Guess I need to add another routine to my checklist. But I think is well worth it on the long term as compared to letting my WAX tokens just idle.
