I started my journey on Steem back in early 2017 and I witnessed the crypto bull run at that time with an abrupt bear market afterward. As I was quite new in crypto I didn't know how to play the market, nor how to take advantage of the situation and snap some profits. Thus I have become a long-time investor and passed from one blockchain to the other, while I am still waiting for the market to improve in order to finally see the fruition of my time and work spent in this ecosystem. But one thing that I do not regret at all is making the transition from Steem to Hive by moving 100% of my assets and growing my presence in this new decentralized ecosystem.

Hive and Steem are both blockchain-based social media platforms, but they differ in several ways. Hive is a fork of the Steem blockchain that was created in early 2020 by a group of community members who were unhappy with the centralization and governance issues of Steem. Thus, one major advantage of Hive over Steem is its **decentralization**. Hive has a more decentralized governance model, where decisions are made through community consensus rather than by a small group of stakeholders. This means that Hive is less prone to censorship and centralization than Steem. We need to notice that **Hive has no CEO**, while Steem does.

Another advantage of Hive is its **token economics**. Hive has two tokens, HIVE and HBD (Hive-Backed Dollars), which work together to provide stability and utility to the platform. HIVE is the native token of the platform and is used for staking, voting, and governance. HBD is a stablecoin that is pegged to $1 worth of Hive and can be used for transactions on the platform. This system provides stability and predictability to the platform, which is beneficial for users who want to earn and transact in a reliable currency.

Hive also has a **more robust and active community** than Steem. Since Hive was created by a group of community members who were dissatisfied with the governance of Steem, it has attracted a passionate and engaged community that is committed to decentralization and user empowerment. This community has helped to create a vibrant ecosystem of applications, tools, and services that are built on top of the Hive blockchain. And most of the important projects and communities from Steem like [Splinterlands](https://splinterlands.com/?ref=sm-goldies) for example, they all migrated to Hive.

Last, but not least all the above can be seen in a **healthy price** point for Hive compared to Steem. Thus if you want to make an effort and contribute, better do it on Hive rather than Steem.

I truly believe that Hive is a much better platform than Steem for users who value decentralization, stability, and community. Its decentralized governance model, stable token economics, active community, and efficient performance make it an attractive platform for social media, content creation, and blockchain-based applications.
