Splinterlands announced the release of three more monsters in the Chaos Legion collection. I was fortunate to be a recipient of the airdropped monsters and I must admit, it felt good. 

I got at least one of each monster airdrop. Out of the lot, I also got a gold foil legendary and I must admit, it was pretty fucking sweet. 

If you recall, I opened 110 packs and didn't get anything substantial. I subsequently opened another set of packs and didn't get any gold foil legendary that I crave. 

That bad luck carried on for so many packs. However, my patience was rewarded with a Gold foil legendary pack. 

My plan has always been to get gold foil legendaries, sell them and then buy back more packs. The goal is still to buy 1K packs before the end of the sale and right now, I'm at 412 packs. 

Achieving my goal will require some level of patience though. I reckon it will take a while of accumulation before I have another $2k-ish to "splurge" on packs. 

The plan is still to hold 500 packs at the end of the sales by the way. All things considered, chaos legion packs are almost certain to have a successful future. 

So, I'm looking forward to taking advantage of the future scarcity. 

Other than the packs, I've also been loading up on monsters. Since I got back to battling, I've needed to stack monsters. 

Despite the number of packs I opened, I still wasn't able to level up a number of my monsters, so I had to go into the market. 

### The battle rages on

Splinterlands battles have become harder than ever lately. Despite using this deck to fight deep into the Gold league, I struggled in the Bronze league. 

After some days of struggling, I finally broke out of the bronze league and I'm now in the silver league. 

My collection power enables me to enter Gold 2 level. However, getting to that level will be a huge challenge for me. 

To ensure that I can grow in those leagues, I had to get more summoners to my deck. 

My first move was to load up on summoners. I managed to get level 5 summoners across the board. 

The purchase of summoners took me back a bit in my plans to buy 500 more packs. However, it is a marathon and not a sprint, so I'll get it all back. 

Coming back to battling wasn't a tough choice. I have really missed playing the game, so it was actually a happy move for me. 

I just didn't think I was going to experience this level of challenge when I return. The competition is stiffer than it has ever been and these Chaos Legion monsters seem to have levelled the playing field. 

### Stacking and Spending DEC

The real motive behind my decision to return to battling was that I want to increase my DEC stacking rate. 

At this time, the rental market isn't really working out, so I need another outlet to get more DEC. 

Battling is of course a slow burner approach but in the long run, it will be worth it. 

I'll also be doing more daily quests, so at least I can be sure I'll be getting more of the chaos reward cards. 

There's also the extra benefit of earning potions from chests. It's just a lot of work but it's a lot of fun, so I'm not complaining. 


### Building a deck

Building a solid deck has an extra layer of complication now that chaos legion packs are in the mix. 

The battle capacity of these new monsters is really immense.

In fact, the only reason they're still relatively cheaper than their counterparts is because of their lower collection power.

Anyway, these new abilities give you something to think about when arranging your team. The strategy for battles has become a bit more complicated and that's a welcome development in my books. 

I was able to test a couple of the new abilities through the chaos reward monsters but there are some new ones. One ability, in particular, is that ability where the monster deals double damage in every other round. 

I've still not been able to capitalize on it. I'm particularly pissed by my inability to try out the ability because I have Uriel the Purifier and he looks badass, I'm just not doing it right. 


There's also the fact that I don't quite understand know the rarities of the monsters by heart. Sometimes I also get overwhelmed by the number of monsters in my deck before battles. 

It'll take a minute but eventually, I'll be able to navigate the game better. Until then, I'll keep experimenting and moving pieces around until I make
