Second Layer Take over
Second layer tokens are the rave of the moment and of the lot, Leo and DEC are leading the pack. For Leo Holders, the rise has been meteoric and it all stemmed from the liquidity pool on Uniswap. I don't think anybody expected it to be such a huge success, and alas, here we are, with Leo trading for almost 2 hive.

![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/belemo/6Hj9jIB4-image.png)

Leo's success didn't go unnoticed and other than Splinterlands, I suspect @neoxian, @palnet and people on STEM are looking on and thinking of a perfect time to jump into the pool. Getting listed and trading on Uniswap dex is not a requisite for a bull run but if the performance of Leo and recently, Splinterlands is anything to go by, it will be difficult to tell people differently.

In less than 48 hours after Splinterlands announced the [liquidity pool thing on Uniswap](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@belemo/dec-joins-the-uniswap-liquidity-party), DEC is already doing some impressive numbers with $12k 24 hour trading and a nice 24% pump to get it to around 0.00463hive. Hey, I know this is wishful thinking but if this baby can get to 0.1hive, that will be really awesome, you know?

Meanwhile, I've noticed that there's been some misunderstandings on Twitter about the success of these Hive-engine tokens. The whole essence of creating Hive engine and having these tokens was for them to all thrive in their own right.

These tokens aren't trying to "compete with hive". First of all, they can't compete with Hive when they all fundamentally depend on Hive and secondly, they actually complement hive, that is, they add value to your hive token in the long run. Think about it from this angle, when say Leo or DEC does so well and people want to get their hands on it, they can either go through Eth or will come through hive-engine, thus buying up more hive, and driving the price up. It is actually a win-win.

Anyway, I'll probably buy a few thousand DEC tokens but my primary means of earning will still be through battles because I'm good at it. I'm going to dip into the rental market again to see which good deals I can squeeze out. Top of the list is a level 2 or 3 Chain Golem to add to my squad.

### I will write blog posts about blockchain and cryptocurrency

This is the first gig I created on Fiverr and I basically talk about how I write quality articles about cryptocurrency and blockchain. So, if you're looking for a writer on your Hive blog or maybe you have private blog outside the platform, I can create quality articles for you.

All I need is a topic, tone of the post and any extra information you'd like me to add. If you choose to patronise me, I assure you that all our conversations will be kept private.

### I will write insightful football articles for blogs

[Link to gig](https://www.fiverr.com/share/VD7r4d)

I have a keen interest in football and even spent three years in the blogging wilderness writing posts on soccermonger.blogspot.com. The few readers I garnered loved my posts, even though they didn't always agree with my views. In recent times, I have been writing on my [personal blog](https://arsenalman.dblog.org/), where I share my views about Arsenal.

I can vary the tone of my posts to suit any narrative a customer chooses to pick, so irrespective of the club or approach, I can handle it. Just like the previous gig, every conversation we have will be kept private.

As LEO is rising in authority, it's taking attention away from other 2nd Layer projects and Communities on HIVE. I can see why people are concerned about it.

It's a good point to bring up. In the short term, Leo may appear to be taking away from HIVE.

In the long run, a decent portion of my earnings here on Leo will end up in HIVE Power. And that'll be much more I can stake to HIVE than it would have been without LeoFinance. Of course, that's in addition to the HP added every time I post on Leo.

Thanks for addressing this misperception. 👍

Yeah. The beauty of second-layer tokens is that it opens up room for internal competition but rather than divide, it is suppose to unite everyone since, it is a free market and secondly, it all still connects to hive anyway.

Yeah the second layer tokens are really starting to branch out which is great to see! I was also thinking of doing a post to help explain what these additional tokens are and increase understanding of them.

I remember when there were so many tokens that launched last year when then steem-engine started. There are a couple I'm going to be keeping my eyes on and may start loading up on the ones that I have now.

Exciting isn't it??

Very exciting man. This is the whole point of creating communities and their success is sort of Beta testing for SMTs, whenever they come around.

I was stacking up on some Leo, but now its out of my buy range. I'm thinking of switching attention to spt, porn, and neoxian.

Yeah I'm going to buy some Dec, neox and pal I think. May buy some Leo as well but will see, I think there's a lot more coming from a few communities now. Perhaps even some lotus as there's a real use case atm for it for natural medicine.

@taskmaster4450le ·
This is the natural progression of Hive. The layer 2 solutions (and hopefully, at some point, HMTs) means that different projects stand on their own. This is where the different wealth centers come in. It is long overdue on Hive.

The Hive token benefits from everything that takes place on here. The only difference is what one opts to spend his or her money upon: powering up HIVE or buying layer 2 tokens?

It is a tough choice.

Well yeah, how I see it, spending your hive on a layer 2 token is still fundamentally good for the system since you at least retain value of the blockchain by keeping it inhouse.
