I woke up feeling a tad bit drained from yesterday's activities. The procedure to get married within the Nigerian context is gruelling and unnecessarily expensive, despite being the poverty capital of the World. I had to make a 2 hour trip from Bayelsa to Warri with my family to visit my future bride's family. It was an interesting gathering with lots of pictures, smiles and whatnot. After I complete the piece of writing, I'll just cut off from the grid for a bit. I'll be watching my Binance because I have some open trades, and then beyond that, I'll just watch football or something. For most of this month, my mind has been fixed on the financial goals that I set. I have been thinking about all the logistics involved in the business and how we will adjust to it. The wedding occasion has also been on my mind, and while it is just a damn occasion, people tend to take these trivial things serious. Whats more annoying about this wedding occasion is that it is not what either me or my lady wants. We're literally doing a wedding ceremony because of our parents. However, I will also ensure that I don't get burned in the process, so I will operate with a very rigid budget. Here I go again, thinking about all these things. Today is for chilling, and getting my mind off things, and I intend to do it. I'll call up one of my brothers and just head out for a drink while watching some of the football matches today. I thought coming to Bayelsa was going to be a holiday, yet it has turned out to be even more stressful than being in Kaduna. I saw some pictures in another post. Congratulations. I am also the same way when it comes to weddings. I hate them and we have a thing here in Kenya called 'come we stay'. It is basically two people simply just co-habit and once a baby comes into the picture you are basically married. Nobody even asks about weddings. My parents are not even 'married'. Around here, we call that cohabiting or something like that. Honestly, I'd have just preferred we go to court and sign a few papers. I like the official binding stuff for legal matters. You know, migration and stuff like that.

I know your struggle brother. Me and my wife had been wanting to get married for four years, and and we bluntly told by the Cambodian government I had to prove income of $2,000 USD per month in one of the poorest countries on Earth to be granted permission by the Cambodian government. It didn't matter to mention to the government that making that kind of income in Cambodia would cause me to become a kidnapping target, and also legally making that kind of money per month in Cambodia is nothing short of impossible. That was the main reason we left and ended up in Suriname, where we recently got legally married a few months ago. It wasn't without struggles, it even took us two years here in Suriname to make it happen, but we are glad to have it behind us because it will ease up certain travel and airport restrictions.
