<div class="text-justify"> <center></center> Well... I was going to write a much more involved post about my new educational tool for online teaching! But I had fallen asleep for an afternoon nap after being out all day in the Sun and the park and a picnic with my family and some nephews and nieces. I guess that sort of thing just takes it out of me these days, not quite as young as I used to be! Or maybe it was the slight hangover from drinking a bit too much at a dinner party last night... kind of hard to separate the two causes from their possible effects! I'm hoping it is more likely the latter, and less the former! Anyway... after my snooze, I decided to check out some Hive posts, and I had seen one where there was a complaint about high ETH gas fees. It has been sometime since I had checked in on Ethereum gas fees, I've been a bit pre-occupied with real life stuff recently. I had wanted to release some out of bounds Uniswap positions that I had lying around from since the early days of Defi when everyone was still playing around with Uniswap V3 and also some legacy V2 positions as well. I had previously added a very cheeky 20 gwei transaction to release a ETH/LINK pairing, which has absolutely no chance on passing... but there was no harm in trying, I wasn't using the wallet any time soon and I could always overwrite that nonce with a legitimate transaction if I wanted to use it again! So, I figured I may as well check in... it is mid afternoon in Australia, so maybe this is a good time when I could avoid the US and Europe peak gas times? I don't know, I haven't really been trying to follow the cycles here in Australia! This would be the first time... Wow, imagine my surprise when I saw that ETH gas fees were only 30-40 gwei! Actually, whilst I was busy resubmitting my cheeky 20 gwei bid, I saw that it even dropped down to around 28 gwei at one point! So, I quickly submitted a line of transactions at around 30-35 gwei... all things that I've been wanting to do for a while... and sending some of the rewards claims to exchange to cash in some profits. EDIT:.... oops, I forgot one thing... I need to claim and send.... be right back in a sec! ... phew, done. I'm hoping that I didn't miss that dip in the gas fees though. It appears that they are around 40-50 gwei and on the march upwards. Ah well, no matter... if this one doesn't make, it will make it in the next dip! Anyway, 40 gwei isn't too bad at the moment if you have things to do... it does make the cost/benefit calculation a much different animal when you are looking at gas fees that are one third (or less) of the horrible fees that NFTs have brought about on the mainnet. I'm really really hoping that that fad passes in short order... It was pretty cool to see about multiple transactions all go in the space of less than a minute. It has been a very long time since that sort of thing has been possible on Ethereum unless you have ETH to burn! Anyway, if you have transactions that you are wanting to press through on Ethereum mainnet... today might be the day!
