Well, the day is finally here! Immutable X is starting their distribution of their Layer-2 tokens, IMX. Now, Immutable is the company behind the Gods Unchained game which was a pretty big hit in the gaming community not so long ago as a blockchain alternative to Hearthstone. At the time, it was one of the few polished blockchain games that existed at that time... a stark contrast to many of the idle-type and clicker/addition games that were the most common genres at the time. 

However, it became quite apparent that housing gaming NFTs on the Ethereum mainnet was  not going to be sustainable. This became even more obvious in this last year, with Ethereum gas prices blasting through the roof as collector NFTs and memecoin speculation smashed aside all other transactions with their insane fee spikes.

So, Immutable X is one of the solutions to this problem, another main solution being the Efinity (EFI) that is aiming to win a parachain auction in the Polkadot ecosystem. Of course, the best solution would be that the PoS upgrade will solve all the Ethereum mainnet problems... but it is likely that throughput (see BSC) will remain a problem even if transaction fees are less painful. This means that there still will be a case for a constellation of Layer 2s that anchor themselves to Ethereum for security.

Anyway, long diversion there... All previous players of the Gods Unchained are eligible for the IMX retrospective drop IF they have connected their account to Immutable X by the snapshot date (it was in the past!). This will be the first place that the IMX tokens will be available, with the other being the [CoinList](https://coinlist.co/clt?referral_code=4CA9XD) public sales. I think that that there will also be a Prime sale on [Huobi](https://www.huobi.com/en-us/topic/double-reward/?invite_code=x92g8), as well as a listing on major exchanges soon ([FTX](https://ftx.com/#a=31870381) and Gate.io). 

So, you will be dropped IMX depending on the cards in your collection and if you have played the Gods Unchained game before the snapshot date. 

To claim, you will just need to click to your inventory tab (yes yes, this is a little bit confusing, most claims are a bit more obvious!). From here you will see the claim box right up there on the top! (If you are a US citizen, you are given the USD equivalent of the IMX claim... complain to your government, but rest assured, you still are mega-super-awesome! (hehe)). 

Something to keep in mind is that the [CoinList](https://coinlist.co/clt?referral_code=4CA9XD) took place at 10 USD/IMX. However, just recently, it became clear to the Immutable team that the pricings on the Immutable marketplace would be easier if the numbers weren't endless decimals... so, before the distribution, they have enacted a 100x redenomination. So, 1 old IMX (from Coinlist) is now 100 IMX, which also means that the correct price is now 0.1 USD/IMX (not the old price of 10 USD/IMX).

There is 90 days for the claim before the airdrop expires, and the best thing is that there is no need to touch the main-net. You only need to sign a signature request as your Ethereum address is already linked to Immutable (otherwise you weren't eligible for the airdrop).

At the moment, I would give it some time... it appears that the network is a bit swamped. I've tried a few times and not been successful. I see that people have already broken out their torches and pitchforks on Crypto-Twitter... but just wait. It will come... people can be weirdly cranky about these things (I guess I should write later about the ENS thing that is currently being fought over on Crypto-Twitter). There is weird expectation and entitlement that is coupled with greed that is quite unsightly... don't be like that!
