So when I first heard about the token system that Steemit was taking on, I was pretty excited. I figured surely, this idea would spill over into all of the internet. Get paid to browse? Yes. Get paid to post? Of course! In ten years, looking back, people would laugh and laugh about how they gave over their information for free at one point, and weren't compensated for all the time they spent online. I guess I wasn't thinking too much about the specifics. That or, the rollout of different coins has just become an absolute mess. As much as I detest Google, and how much they own, and how much power they have, I must say it is convenient to have most things in the same place. I don't have to continually login and out of YouTube/Gmail/Google Search when I want to use one or the other. I have been an avid contributor to DTube for a long time, but have taken a break from everything to focus on my health. In that time, I was locked out of my DTube account, for not claiming it, and figured out that DTube and Steemit will be separate logins and entities in general from here on out. Dear God. I am exhausted already. I get the point of decentralization. If everything was all in one place, it would no longer have the benefits of being decentralized. That being said, it's 2019 people. The vast majority of the public have become accustomed to convenience. Even the slightest inconveniences set people off. It is already confusing enough trying to explain to my friends why Steemit is awesome and is the future, this new outlay of coins and separate logins is going to be a definite no-go. I suppose it will get easier in the future. It's easy to judge something at its infancy for being too complex. I'm sure the first few versions of the PC would have been utterly mind-boggling for the average individual, but we are on a bit of a time crunch here as well, with many competing interests, and with the government frothing at the mouth to either create competition (with a FedCoin) or to completely regulate Crypto, which is not far from the horizon. SMTs were Ned's baby. The promise of a bright future online. Websites all over the place adapting SMT's to reward faithful users for their time. People could invest in things they believe in, it was all going to be great. What I have seen so far is a free-for-all grab for tokens once released, and not much return on investment. I'm also seeing complicated separations via login and even more confusion for people trying to easily navigate this stuff. I'm just being honest here, I don't want to login to 50 different places. This is going to become insanity. Pure insanity. As more people adapt SMTs then you will have to login to each individual website in order to collect said coin? And for what, a few cents at a time? I liked it when Steem was the currency, and you could earn it, no matter where you were within the Steemit network. I liked one login, it was simple and easy and straightforward. I'm not really diggin' this new wave of the SMTs. Kinda sucks ballsack. Now this is of course, my extremely likely ignorant position. Coming from a place of only knowing the very MINIMUM about any of this stuff. But isn't that who we are hoping to cater to? Surely we can't expect everyone to be programmers and crypto analysts who are going to put up with a lot of this. We have to figure out how to make it all easier. Anyway, that's just my two cents for the day. I didn't do any flashy pictures or anything today. Just wanted to get this out there. Feel free to tell me how I don't know anything, and don't know what I am talking about. I am just trying to offer up my humble opinion as one of the average people Steemit and Ned are hoping to gain in these endeavors. Had I not started when I did, I would be completely turned off to the whole thing. It's too complex.

It is extremely confusing to people for sure. Even Bitcoin addresses and all that is really confusing to people. I remember in 2013 I heard Andreas Antanopolis talking and he said the whole thing of having these alpha numeric wallet addresses and QR codes would go away.....etc. That was true and we have human readable addresses on STEEM, EOS but even that is confusing to people to get accounts....etc and even with the money backing EOS at the moment it isn't able to to catch up to the market caps of Ethereum and Bitcoin for the time being. It is perplexing for sure.

I know 100% more than the majority of my friends/people I know, and I feel like I still know nothing. I have also noticed that while there are a few females that are showcased here, the majority are still male, and probably computer savvy ones at that. I am not a stupid person, but the whole system makes me feel REAL dumb. That, and after putting nearly 2 years into DTube, I can no longer login for taking a hiatus. All of this is REAL cool.

Yeah I know.... it is rough for sure. You probably already figured out partially that DTube is on its own blockchain now called the Avalon chain and with the new system you will be able to post to the DTube chain and the STEEM blockchain as well. It is sort of interesting what they are doing..... but yeah the people who were away for a little bit are sort of left out. The thing to about the majority of the support for anyone who is mainly a pure content creator is that one of the only legitimate ways anyone was able to sustain any support is by revolving their entire blog around how awesome STEEM is. For 3+ years that has been one of the only ways someone could really earn much of anything. It is very strange to me and if you go to Reddit there is high engagement and all these people on there talking about all types of things for free. It is very strange.

Lol, I love the line "Feel free to tell me how I don't know anything" it's often how I feel when I was ranting about similar issues. I don't mind all the tokens since everyone is free to as they please and the bigger the network the more opportunity of bringing people into the chain. Instead of a one size fits all like a Facebook its more of a we have something for every size. So you pick the places that suit you. I don't participate in every dapp or site on steem only the ones I'm keen on. You make a valid point it is a cash grab since our acquisition and retention rates are terrible so only the same authors are benefiting. I do think eventually as onboarding becomes easier with RC delegation and lite/wallet accounts we'll be able to bring people into the various environments and keep them a lot longer with better engagement and curation. ## One login to rule them all But I do think there is progress in the one login with steemkeychain and once it can be integrated on a mobile device I think it could really solve a lot of these problems. Sites that have upgraded to steemconnect 3 and support steemkeychain make logins steamless where you only need to use your username and boom you're in. It's so easy and I know a lot of people don't know about it yet but I'm sure it will be rolled out across the board soon enough We all want the same thing for people to enjoy what we've found in this place and we're all impatient for it to happen. I totally am on your side, I just think we are making strides to get there!
