<h1>The Good and the Bad</h1>

I am going to start this by stating, I don’t really like Bitcoin that much. 

Yes, it was the first of it’s kind, and it was innovative and amazing in a way nothing had been before. BUT, it is now archaic. Currently, there are 208k transactions that are in the backlog of the bitcoin blockchain. This is absolutely ridiculous. I read posts yesterday that it was taking people 9 hours to clear a tx, and it seems to be getting worse. 

This is really bad for crypto, it gives new investors a horrible experience when dealing with blockchain technology. This lack of ability to deal with transaction speeds is the fault of the bitcoin community, IMHO. The bitcoin community can’t come together to choose a way in which they can scale. This is a huge problem.

Bitcoin is like using a checkbook in 2017 when you have a debit card. One is instant, and the other takes time, extra resources, and the tx takes days to clear. 

<h1>Exchanges</h1>

My fear is this, MOST alt coins are based off of fractions of bitcoin. This means that if Bitcoin were to drop 50%, it is possible most, if not all, alt coins would follow. Even those coins connected to ethereum, or LTC, LTC and Ethereum are connected to Bitcoin, which again, would be dropping.

I fear a huge drop from Bitcoin and the issue that brings up when it comes to Alt coins. Do we have exchanges getting ready for a possible flip to another crypto? I do not see Bitcoin lasting much longer. If the tx charges are still the same, the .001 charge on your transaction is 17$ to send bitcoin from an exchange like Bittrex. That is absolutely insane. 

The idea of the blockchain is to have fast transactions that are decentralized, and cost less than the banks. And yet, currently, banks can offer better tx costs and faster tx speeds without bottle necks like we are seeing now. 

<h1>What To Do?</h1>

I think it is imperative that exchanges start utilizing different kinds of crypto pairs and stop depending on bitcoin so much. Currently, it seems like we have all our eggs in one basket regardless if you want them to be in that basket or not. The health of our current crypto sphere seems dependant on the successes and failures of Bitcoin, and I don’t trust Bitcoin or the toxic community that comes along with it.

What are your thoughts? Do you trust in the health of the Bitcoin blockchain? Do you feel it will help us or hinder us?
