How you should NOT be commenting on Steemit! Being a Good Steemian! [Pro Tips]
I hate to single someone out but I think people need to realize that this community thrives on a dedication to quality content. Simply stealing someone's work and claiming it to be your own is theft and although it may not incur any legal penalties, is seriously frowned upon! People like myself spend hours a week drafting, editing, reworking, finding sources, and creating articles that provide real value to others who are looking for that content!

People who just go around begging for up votes without providing any real feedback or insight or even acknowledgement that they read your post is basically an insult to the author. Someone who spends time to create content that others deem valuable does not need comments at the bottom from those who beg for up votes, follows, and do not even engage the overall discussion that author and post were trying to provoke!

You all know it when you see it. "Wow Nice Post! Check my post out {INSERT LINK}" or "Very Nice" or "Wow Amazing Follow Me!". It is either a bot or worse a person who is simply looking to get any up vote they can, any follower they can, without reading, engaging, or otherwise adding to the community and discussion they are commenting in!

Take a look at the most recent comments this user made (I single them out since they commented on my last post):

You see it is either a copy and paste of the same reply OR a variation of the same reply. "Great post tnx for sharing steemit all the way Up vote me if you can plz" 6 times in just 22 minutes! There was 0 thought put into the reply and probably 0 reading done for each of those authors! Just potentially votes stolen from GOOD authors and curators by a leach!

Steemit needs GOOD content and GOOD curators, not a copy and paste bandwagon of "nice post give me money"! We all need to be aware of these types of members and avoid them like the plague!

I don't remember the exact date but I did make a post about Comment Bots.

Something was weird I was sad about something and I wrote about it on Steemit.

The first reply which came in seconds after I posted was I am happy for that.

I really think that those are using bots for passing out maximum coments

I like to believe that the community would self-police these kind of accounts eventually, they might exist for a day or two, but this kind of behaviour would get caught faster and faster as we get more people on here and people who care for the health of the platform. So hopefully they would organically cease to exist by being flagged into oblivion or being choked off by zero rewards in return (since in a first place that's the only reason they are on here).

The best thing we can do is begin to teach the good steemians how to identify and ignore these abusers and leaches! They contribute 0 value and simply suck off the rest of us! I tolerate a pretty large amount of abuse (I am a sysadmin and system/software engineer) in my line of work, but we have points where it just simply is NOT accepted, and it is feeling like there are popping up random accounts that seek to solely abuse the system. I don't mind someone paying a @randowhale and/or paying for promotion for up votes, at least they viewed their content worth good enough to spend their OWN money to get people to see it! But contributing NOTHING, having accounts with less than 500 SP no less than 100 SP 99.99% of the time and basically STEALING from the rest of us is something we need to ensure is wiped out here!

Reading your other replies, didn't know that flagging cost you VP, but I also kinda get why it does, otherwise it's just as easy to abuse as upvoting. There definitely needs to be some kind of a smart system, maybe if the flagging worked on a group vote system, it costs you nothing, but doesn't take effect unless a certain other amount of people flag it too, but there would need to be a ratio for posts with less traffic, so yea, it's not an easy solution, but its good to hear it's on people's minds at least.

I didn't quite get your last statement tho, are you referring to accounts with some decent VP that don't participate in community but leech by using their VP to just further up their own accounts?

Agreed, bigdeej. I’ve noticed more and more of these spammy comments on my posts and others. It’s quite annoying. Time to start flagging or at the least avoiding. 

Steemit is great because there’s people putting quality content out there, like yourself. These spammy comments cheapen the platform.
