My biggest issue with Steem(it)!
I love Steem do not forget that! It is my home and I love it here! Steem has one big flaw though and we need to all really sit down and address it. How can we get millions if not billions of people signed up if the only "free" way is Steemit.com's signup, which many people have huge issues with. I personally know of over 15 people I tried to get to signup only to be so frustrated with the signup procedure that they eventually gave up.

Half the time steemit will never send a verification email, the other half of the time you are not approved despite giving them a real email and phone number. This system seems flawed to me. If we want to see steem reach the masses we can not inhibit new users from signing up and worse make them wait days, weeks or worse just never getting approved at all for an account!

There has to be a solution! We need to begin looking at how the new STEEM is allocated in the blocks and find a way to ensure that there is a ready pool for new steemians to join from! This can not be a process that is centralized to a corporation like steemit, this has to become a built in feature of STEEM itself!

The only solution as of now is to pay for your new account! It is very hard to tell someone to join this system where you earn money on a social media platform only for them to have to buy their account or wait and hope they get approved by a centralized authority!

Just like the Reward Pool, I propose there should be some form of new account creation pool. New accounts easily could have their SP delegated to them from this pool for a period of  say 90 days, after that time if they did not earn enough to have enough bandwidth and SP to continue they either are forced to Power Up or their account becomes dust. There is no need for the Sign Up STEEM Pool I am proposing to ever be completely drained. The SP could easily be delegated using a smart contract built into STEEM for a period of say 90 days which gives new users enough time to earn but does not allow new users to have control of the STEEM nor does it allow them to abuse the system since the Power is revoked after a set period of time!

This is just a proposal, hopefully others chime in! We really do need to start thinking about this if we want to see Steem take off as THE go to social media platform!

I have read your article and this is what I think, although I may be less informed 

wow I think you have a point but I have an issue with the referral option because I believe putting steem out on that footing can make outsiders doubt the authenticity of  the platform . And no amount of convincing can save the things people know before.  Don't forget most of the defunct ponzi scheme were based on referral.  Only this move can earn steemit of being compared with such outlets which is not good moving forward. Although I agree on most of ur other points

You can create anonymous steem acounts that dont require text message verification. These accounts require you to fund your own account for instant access instead of steemit delegating you some starter SP out of the pool. There are different ways of creating instant access anonymous account but im pretty sure they cost $50-120 usd, im pretty sure most of the money goes straight to you steem account though.

Right so after I convince a skeptical user about how they can earn money on steem they have to pay for their own account? How is that an answer to the issue? $120 USD to get started sounds like a scam to most people!

I agree with creating bonuses for new members.  I remember back in the day when playing online poker that they would give you a bonus for the first deposit.  I would love to see Steem match the first deposit around 10-20%.   More money invested in the system would be beneficial to all as the steem price would move up.
