Bithumb and UPbit are blocking user accounts of 11 countries

The largest South Korean crypto-exchangers-Bithumb and UPbit-joined the FATF initiative to counteract the legalization of criminal proceeds and since May 28 they have stopped servicing the citizens of 11 states that are named "accomplices of terrorists" in the NCCT Initiative. This list is headed by North Korea, Iran, Iraq and Sri Lanka.

As follows from the statement of exchangers, user accounts will be blocked on June 21. After that, Bithumb and UPbit will introduce additional verification requirements via a mobile phone.

Commenting on this event, experts in the crypto-industry have suggested that the next step in Asian exchangers may be delisting of Montero, Zcash and Dash, to which Japan is calling.
