The day Cryptos shocked the world: An insight into some of the characters i met today!

The world of Cryptos hit a milestone today. I saw loads of articles on Steemit discussing strategies and helping to support other users. In the wider world of news I saw a lot of FUD taken over the market today. This had a huge knock on effect to the behavior of a few people within my network associated with Cryptos. Rather than an analysis of today, I thought to focus on some of the characters I met today to give you an insight into how other people coped with the changing Crypto landscape. Enjoy. 



The guy that has never invested, and hates those who have: 

At around lunchtime a long time hater of all things cryptos called me and told me about the bubble that was about to burst. With a smug tone on the phone he told me about how he predicted this week would be the week crypto failed. I asked him how he knew about this week and specifically this day that Bitcoin and other alts would be in decline and he responded with 

“Well I took the average price it has been for 100 days, I divided it by the average price of 50 days and then multiplied X by…*insert other rubbish here*”. 

I saw he clearly didn't know what he was talking about but was keen to entertain the conversation so asked him how the next 7 days would pan out and he went onto explain the below.

•	The Americans are shorting the market, so they are tipping of the big Bitcoin Whales
•	All of China is about to ban Cryptos
•	The Russians are making their own coin so they want rid of Bitcoin and other Alts

As expected when speaking to an investment banker, he just told me about the market factors and refused to give me a solid prediction on the next week. He did however ask me to promote a fund his company is selling. To which I declined, however if there is anyone out there looking to invest in a fantastic fund which can offer *insert sales pitch here*.

The newbie Crypto King. 

Around 6 months ago Coinbase and other exchanges saw a sharp rise is people registering on their site. If you were new to the Crypto world and didn't know what coin to bank on then Ripple would have seem like a great package. It was the cheapest coin in the top 10 at around $0.20 and especially newbies began investing heavily into it because they could attain a huge holding. Then Ripple jumped to around $1.80 and boom the first time alt buyers became Crypto winners over night.

The advice given to them at the time especially when it went above $3 was to sell their investment and retain the profits but a lot of people I spoke to decide to hold. This as predominately because of a lot of fake news which was going around about Ripple and companies replacing there fiat currencies to use it. 

That brings us to today. A person I work with who purchased Ripple at $0.60 approached me at work and said she sold her entire Ripple coins at around $0.80. With fees included she made hardly anything back but was determined it was the right move.  I asked her why she told and she told me about how because China is going to regulate Cryptos, it means Ripple will become obsolete.  An hour after she sold the price went up $1.37 and she contacted me on the work messenger ap saying “Last time I listen to these Fuds”.

The nervous wreck

I walked into work this morning with 3 emails from someone I hardly knew from my company. 
11pm (the night before): “Hey dude, crypto is going pretty crazy right now lol”
3am (the morning before): “the alts look like they are taking a hit, can’t take my eyes of the charts haha”
And at 8am at the top of my emails read 
“Hey can we get a meeting asap, China has just announced they are going to ban ALL crypto currencies and now other countries are going to follow suit, give me a call when you are in”.

I gave him a call and told him not to worry, his mind had been corrupted by online news articles who just recycle small news and magnify it. On top of that he was on a lot of online forums. By lunchtime he was an absolute mess. I asked him without being to personal how much he had invested and he said around a month’s wage. He showed me the points where he had invested and they all went against the rules of a technical analysis. He ended up going home after lunch and rang me from the car, he sold his entire holding to retain a small bit of profit.

The person who is still clueless but stress free.

One of the old grumpy guys in my building for his birthday received 0.5 of a bitcoin. His son got it for him and said just hold onto it until you retire. I saw him in the car park after work and asked him about his thoughts on the day’s activities:

“That bloody bitcoin nonsense? I couldn’t care less, I only got it because my son forgot my birthday and felt bad, he’s been asking for it back since the day he gave it to me! Also why can’t anyone in your crypto world spell the world Hold properly? Am I going to buy am I going to sell, ill tell you what im going to do, go down to the pub and watch the football, Cheers!”.

The first time buyer.

Out of all the people I spoke to today this guy was by far the best character I saw all day. He is an old friend who has never spent a single cent online in his life. He just about uses a Debit card (but never online) and has never used an ATM Machine because he’s worried about scammers. He almost used Paypal once in 2013 to buy a book for university but then read an article about someone in the Philippines hacking into someone’s Paypal, so he stayed away.

I have been speaking to him for years to get involved with Crypto. It goes against everything he stands for which includes:
Its online, Bitcoin and other alt coins have bad press, and most importantly, its online. 

So I was sitting at my desk when I get an email come through from an exchange saying “we have debited your account with 0.0000x BTC because your friend Mr X has joined our exchange”.

I contacted him immediately because I thought he had been hacked. His response is below when I asked why he bought today:

“At 8am this morning I had received a £500 referral from the company we both work for. The money was from referring you into the company. You listened to my advice when I said join the company, so I thought I’d take your advice and join you on your crypto journey. If we make any money we can split it, if we lose the money, we haven’t really lost anything at all, whatever happens, were in it together”.

So there you have it, an insight into some of the people i met today, on top of this i also was in contact with my personal crypto network where we were updating each other on the latest developments.
